What good is a federal contract if you don’t have the employees to fulfill it?
Even a group as inept as the federal government will eventually notice that you are shorting them what they ordered or that none of it works.
A defense contractor I used to know has talked about how for the holidays every year, the company he worked for would just slap shite in a box and send it out to meet deadlines and then spend the next month or two fixing matters.

Yeah I'm not justifying it. This mandate will completely wreck our economy if it's allowed....it's almost scary how nicely this crash would play into the political elite reaping direct monetary benefits from China and Russia...I'm no conspiracist but you have to wonder if there's knowledge and intent here.
But companies that answer to shareholders have to mitigate risk, and some leaders (probably stupidly) have decided to err on the side of not losing the contracts over hoping the mandate is struck down.
Also there is just a metric shite ton of CYA memos and emails and "directives" going around corporate America right now. I'd bet 99% of it isn't worth the effort it took to type it out, it's simply a cover your arse tactic.

Electrician seems like a job that could be contracted out to someone via 1099 and bypass the “employee” thing

Why the frick are these people quitting and not forcing the companies to fire them. Call the bluff
I asked my son the same thing who quit his job right before he would have been fired. He said if he was fired he would lose all of his personal leave time and wouldn't be eligible for unemployment either way. He stood to lose $9000. He also would not have been eligible for rehire should he choose to return if the madness ever subsides.

This is why Southwest and other airlines have been having “sick-outs” lately.
If you are going to get fired and lose your leave, take it while you can. You’ve earned it and the company can’t tell you no for taking it.

They are paying ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS $450K for break laws. Imagine what a class action will settle for screwing CITIZENS out of jobs.
Sounds like a good way to crush the private health care industry and what's left of our manufacturing capacity, to make them plea to be "nationalized" to remain in existence.
