Saw Target and HEB both promoting it instead of Thanksgiving. When did the word Thanksgiving become offensive? Add it to the list of cancelled words.

I don’t think it’s meant to be political, I think it’s just something people started doing to celebrate with friends they actually like before doing Thanksgiving with their families

Something basic white women made up as an excuse to get together with their girlfriends and drink wine while the husbands and kids sit around pretending to like each other.

The contexts I've seen it used for is just a Thanksgiving gathering with friends that is separate from their gathering with family. In those cases, the people weren't using it because "Thanksgiving" was offensive, it was just a name for their Thanksgiving gathering with their friends.

A group of our friends had one a few weeks back. The women stood around in the kitchen and bitched about the men who stood around a grill and/or TV and bitched about 18-21 year old black kids ability, or lack thereof, to win football games.
I called it "Sunday".

It's just a term given to an event when people, usually those who live far away from family and don't go home for Thanksgiving, come together and celebrate Thanksgiving as a group of friends.
I really don't feel like it's that complicated a concept.
To immediately jump to "oh Thanksgiving must be an offensive term now!" just shows how sensitive you are.
