Great news. And the timing of it makes it even better. Now we have a much clearer idea of what is needed on the roster and the money we have to spend. It was tough to do anything with that huge question mark lingering over the roster.

He and the team need to make a statement that clears up the confusion because I think a large segment of the fanbase has already dismissed the idea of him ever playing here again because they saw the initial story and immediately found him guilty.
That was always my impression. Seemed like a textbook, "frick that guy" type of offense and that we needed to move on ASAP.
Would love to hear more though before casting my stone

Yeah if he got 20 days, whatever happened was obviously nowhere near as severe as was initially reported or they found out that his wife started it again (keeping in mind she was arrested for throwing a soap dish at his head last year).

I can tell you that his wife's history made it really hard to believe she didn't instigate something, but having never seen the video, and as much as the police on the scene made a big deal of it, I didn't know what to believe. What I was absolutely SURE of was that Manfred was going to come down hard on him, regardless of context, simply because he is another woke sports commissioner who's looking to virtue signal, almost any chance he gets.
To see him only get 20 games (retroactively, at that) is absolutely stunning to me, and seems to strongly indicate that the police on the scene badly mischaracterized what happened. If he was "choking" her and saying he was going to kill her, there's not a chance this would have been his punishment.

The comments section at Talking Chop looks like a bunch of white knights trying to get in Genesis Ozuna's pants. It is fricking pathetic.

3 years ago it was my go to site for Braves news. I haven't read that trash in the past couple of years, though.

If/when universal DH is passed, he fits that role perfectly.

Now that we know Ozuna is back, sign Rosario, Freddie and a reliever and call it an offseason.
RF Acuna
1B Freeman
DH Ozuna
3B Riley
LF Rosario
CF Duvall
2B Albies
C d'Arnaud
SS Swanson

Their podcasts are good and their minor league coverage is outstanding, but the rest of that site is getting harder to read by the day. Their stance on shite like this is a huge reason why.

Probably one more innings eater who could fill the role Smyly was supposed to, as well. Wright and Muller can battle it out (or rotate) for that fifth spot. I'm under the assumption that we won't get anything from Soroka and unfortunately, I think the Braves have to operate with this same mindset.
I definitely want Rosario back. Besides Freddie, I think he would be my top priority.

They had a deal with him last year before he failed the physical. Good signing if he can stay healthy.

Only making $1 million in 2022.

Wow. Giving that much to a mid 30s reliever coming off TJ? Payroll must be going up by a lot this year.

Reading the comment section over there makes me want to put a gun in my mouth.

I can see him being back mid-season. Kid is a bulldog and will do anything he can to come back.

I like this signing a lot. When Yates is healthy, he's dominant.

I saw that, as well. Not one bit surprising.
It's really pitiful when you read the comments from some of the FEW people who bothered to try to make the connection between the much lesser punishment than expected and the possibility that it means the allegations were exaggerated. They went through verbal gymnastics to make sure they qualified this otherwise reasonable notion, so as not to give the impression that they support violence.
"You know, this makes you wonder if it wasn't actually as bad as the police report indicated, BUT I would NEVER, EVER, condone hurting a woman. I think breathing on a woman without her consent is worthy of capital punishment, but I believe in second chances, NOT THAT I WOULD GIVE HIM A THIRD, but I think people can change, NOT THAT HE HAS CHANGED, but maybe he will, BUT HE NEEDS TO APOLOGIZE AND EAT A TURD BEFORE I'D GIVE HIM A CHANCE. But hopefully they can trade him, if someone will take him, which they probably won't, and I'm not saying they should, but if they don't, maybe he can change, BUT I WON'T PULL FOR HIM, I'll just hope he does well for the team, because I'm a team guy and I DO NOT SUPPORT VIOLENCE!
Just utter cowardice that people seek virtue points from anonymous posters.

The Duke Lacrosse scandal and that bullshite Rolling Stone article about the gang rape at the UVA frat house (that ended up being completely fabricated) are the two big ones that taught me to wait for stuff like this to play out.
