I'm not an idiot, guy. I'm quite aware that these talks have been going on for a while.

Meanwhile, I'm just gonna leave this here:

Jon Heyman said years is still the hangup with Freeman. He said it could change at any time. Braves still viewed as clear favorite.

too early to make a conclusion on either. They're still rookies for God's sake.

You were absolutely positive Jones was gonna be a huge flop and wasn't close to being a 1st rounder.I don't think it's too early to at least reevaluate those opinions.

No idea why you were so positive he was gonna fail.

And sure, you can hold off on Wilson for the time being but I highly New England would wanna swap em out.

Hearing that #Braves are among teams that have expressed interest in Justin Verlander. They have several factors that he’s reportedly seeking: contender, East Coast team, and train in Florida.

Also, the MLB Network guys were absolutely roasting the Braves for letting the Freddie stuff get this far. Ken Rosenthal was saying that while he still thinks he stays with the Braves, there is cause for some concern that the Yankees, Dodgers or Angels are considering throwing $200m at him, and if that happens, it's out of the Braves' price range and it would be up to Freddie to decide whether or not to give a home team discount.

If the Braves were far apart in $$$, I'd be worried. They aren't. It is length where the issue lies. Freddie wants 6, the Braves want 5. That is a lot easier to come together on.

I still think the Braves will offer Freddie 5 years, w/either a team or vesting option for a 6th for 27-28MIL. And it'll more than likely be front-loaded.

They will be if a deep pocket team offers $200m

DOB also adds that he's heard the Braves have at least discussed bringing Melancon back. Melancon turned down his $5M option with SD so he seems to be seeking a pretty good paycheck for his services

When is the last time DOB broke any Braves news at all? Genuinely curious. Was it his Ken Griffey Jr. to the Braves report?

The guy is hilariously bad at his job and this bit he does on Twitter where he only responds to the dumbest of the dumb fans is really bizarre too.

I know AA runs the tightest ship in pro sports but he’s as brutal as it gets when it comes to a beat guy.

I don't read DOB stuff for breaking news. I don't really read him much at all anymore. I do like his podcast with Eric O'Flaherty though.

Must have been a fun World Series celebration in the Riley house .

Very random thought. The Braves signing of Manny Pina means one of the young guys is probably getting traded and we've all assumed it'll be Contreras.

However, I kind of think it'll be Langeliers. He is a Boras client and the Braves have smartly avoided these guys in the past. Boras is a piece of shite and I wonder if the Braves may decide to trade Langeliers while his value is really high to avoid having to deal with his pond scum of an agent in the future?
