Dodgers rumored to be offering 7yrs 300M for Freddie….

That's probably supposed to say 200M and not 300M.

If someone wants to pay Freddie Freeman $86M for his age 37 and 38 seasons you congratulate him and tell him good luck.

No kidding. I still don't know where my line in the sand would be (thinking 6/$180M) but it definitely wouldn't be that high.

Yep. And I love Freddie but no fiscally responsible FO/organization(which the Braves are) will pay that much for a 37-38yo player on the back end of a contract.

Teams are trying to pry superstar 1B Freddie Freeman from Atlanta. Some say they still don’t think it will happen but r surprised he’s still free. Dodgers, who lost Seager and could move Muncy to 2B, may have best hope for SoCal product, NYY, TOR (h/t Carlos Baerga) reached out.

MLB is proposing a draft lottery similar to the NBA. Theyre also proposing expanding the playoffs to 14 teams, 7 in each league. NFL format in that the #1 seed gets a WC round bye. #2, and #3 seeds would pick their WC opponent. They could pick any of the #5, 6 or 7 seed to play. #2 would pick first, then 3 and whoever is left would play the #4 seed or best WC team. WC series would be best of 3 and played at the home of the higher side just like in 2020.

I like this.

Hate this idea. I know bulletin board material is incredibly overblown, but having #2 choose their WC opponent is basically them saying out loud that they don't think the opponent they're choosing is any good.

Braves have checked in on A’s star 1B Matt Olson, presumably as a contingency plan in case Freddie Freeman leaves via free agency. Most still have a hard time envisioning Freeman in any other uniform but Braves want to be prepared.

Meaning they’ve let it go on too long and now big spenders are about to get desperate and price them out.
If he doesn’t sign the blame won’t be on AA not spending on him now. The blame will be on AA for not spending on him last off season.

Not sure he knew what he could offer last offseason with the financial uncertainty.

Braves non-tender Richard Rodriguez, Johan Camargo, and Jassel de la Cruz.

Good move on AA's part for realizing that Rodriguez was a sunk cost.

AA has always let his FA's test the market. He does that so he doesn't negotiate against himself. Most times it works, sometimes it doesn't.

And nothing can be done signing wise after 4 PM tomorrow anyway. The CBA will expire.

It would be such a Barves move if we finally win the World Series, have our franchise 1B say he wants to stay, have multiple players publicly beg the FO to sign Freeman... and end up losing him.

But…. At least we won it all with him. That’s all I’m telling myself. I’m good for at least another 5-10 years Obviously we would have a way better chance in the next 5 years with him on our side but no one can fault him if we won’t match something the dodgers or Yankees do. I just really don’t wanna give him 7 years.

This is where I am. We accomplished our ultimate goal and I consider it mission accomplished with Freddie. I would have been upset to lose him if we were still on the cusp but not quite there yet. If we can replace with a Matt Olson or something then I'll be fine. The goal now is to try and get multiple championships while we have Acuna and Albies and Riley as the new core, and I don't think hamstringing the payroll with 30-35 mil a year from a aging player is necessarily going to be the easiest way for us to get there.

With the non-tenders being announced, this means Duvall is definitely back right? As long as he isn’t traded or something.
