Moving on from Trump. Give me DeSantis. Independents are the voting block most needed in 2024 and that is where DeSantis becomes the clear choice.

Yes, by all means, let’s tell the young star - who is much smarter, far more articulate, a better debater, has a fraction of the baggage, and doesn’t constantly step on his own dick and fall into the media’s traps, to frick off in 2024 in favor of a guy who will be 78 and couldn’t even stay in the WH against Biden. Let’s also save the star for 2028 where he can be a sacrificial lamb against an incumbent (doubt Biden runs in 2024) which historically doesn’t work out unless the incumbent is hated (Carter, Trump) or has to contend with a spoiler (HW Bush).

If we frick up 2024, we’re likely handing 2028 over to the Dems on a silver platter. Far too risky to go with a guy that will be having his THIRD kick at the can. He served his purpose, but it’s time to move on. If we’re stupid enough to frick up 2024 and back a loser, then we deserve to lose in 2028 as well.

It comes down to putting away your precious feelings and using logic to go with the best candidate with the fewest flaws. Frick feelings, I want to win.

Trump is center-right. He's too moderate, in my opinion. Spent like a dem.

The VA election made it clear - use your assets wisely. Use Trump where Trump is king. Focus on the electorates needs. VA needed someone to focus on VA issues, not DJT.

That’s a big reason why Youngkin won. He knew that if Trump touched foot in VA at one of his rallies that he’d be toast - as it would anger and mobilize the suburban wine moms to not be complacent and vote against him. There’s a reason why Youngkin never begged Trump to come to his rallies. If Trump stayed on the sidelines and worked the phones to get people to vote, Youngkin would win over enough suburban soccer moms who hate Trump AND he’d keep the Trump base happy. He also focused on the issues, namely education and civil liberties.

The playbook is to have Trump work the phones and get out members of his base who have questions, but not have him appear at any rallies, whether that be for DeSantis, Rand, or whoever else in 2024.

This is y'alls problem man. You think anyone who sees a different path (even if the goals of which are exactly the same) then they must vote Democrat and have hurt feelings.

It's childish and irrational.

I want to WIN. And to win, you HAVE to get people to vote for your candidate.

this country has taken a 90 deg turn since 2016. Its not remotely the same political climate, and the same playbook wont win.

For a few fleeting moments, I had hope that the results from Virginia and New Jersey would convince significant numbers of Trump proponents that America is indeed a solidly center-right nation and that the problem in 2020 was not some vast conspiracy, but rather simply “Donald Trump.”

And then I saw this thread.

If the Trump is the 2024, nominee, I’ll be a good soldier and vote for him over any communist democrats nominate. Elections have consequences and voting about what world you want to live in.

But man, if Trump gets another heartbreaking loss in 2024, his supporters that want Trump 2024 will deserve every bit of that pain. Some people just can’t get the hint and need to be shown it.

Exactly. How about getting mad at Trump for not improving his debating skills and articulating his message without repeating lines like a jukebox. Adapt or lose. He got fat and happy and didn’t work on his big weakness - closing the gap with suburban voters, who historically vote R and split the ticket in 2016.

The problem is that the electorate as a whole is childish and irrational, also.

And the question is whether the childishness and lack of rationality of the electorate will coincide with the childishness and irrationality of the fervent Trumpists in three years.

One could make a case that it’s you who’s still stuck in 2016 and while the rest of us is living in a completely different world today five years later.

exactly

i just cant fathom why someone would still, at this point, want Trump OVER Desantis.

Conservative positions = Desantis
Politically savvy = Desantis
Fights MSM = PUSH
Fights Liberals = Desantis (because he fights with issues instead of rhetoric)
Likeability = Desantis

Literally the only reason to vote for Trump at this point is a to make Liberals heads explode, which is precisely why it would be harder for him to get elected.

Why do you believe that lie?

He added 12 million votes to his already more than anybody else 2016 results.

ou seem to believe Trump is the only one capable of bringing the heat on the cultural front. I'm saying you're wrong.

Nobody believes that. Wake up. Stop spouting things that are not true.

Also, the Republicans must still stay connected to reality

The reality is this.

- Trump in 2020 added 12 million people to the GOP.

- Trump started a massive campaign to reach out to Hispanics. The results are now showing. Remember, Youngkin ran on the Trump platform.

- Trump started a major out reach to black Americans where the former guys REFUSED to even attempt. Look at NJ now...

- Trump's man in VA did what in VA? Exactly. Put poll watchers in 93% of the polling places. Why? Because of 2020.

- All across this nation, people watched in horror as the election unfolded. Those people got organized because that event woke them up to the RINOs and the lengths they worked with DEMS to undo the election process.

That is reality.

You are wrong. Again. Just like 2016.

How quickly you forget what actually took place in 2020. Why would want to walk away and bury that.

Do you like RINO's in control of the party?

Of course he didn't. Not sure how you inferred that from what I posted.

The 2020 election was stolen. No question about it.

However a 78 year old Trump in 2024 would not bring in the independents. Run on his platform. Yes. But not his persona, his cult of personality.

I want to win in 2024. DeSantis offers a better shot at doing that than Trump.

Here's the reality. You can have all of that with a more effective candidate in Desantis which means you can get more done.

Not to mention no more twitter fights with Bette Midler.

Dude, you’re in a cult. I think many of you are more concerned with owning the libs than saving the country. Many of you (not saying you specifically) proved it when you encouraged people to stay home in Georgia since you thought the election was rigged. You lit the lifeboats on fire to where none of us could escape the Trumptanic and I look at that as basically murdering the country. We just got lucky that the ship from last night happened to be floating by and saved us, but that was almost pure luck due to the stupidity of McAullfe.

The thing is we have a real powerful enemy out there in the CCP. We are going to have to confront them in our lifetimes and we know when the end date is for their little game: October 1st 2049. That’s when Sozin’s Comet arrives and when China is looking to have legally conquered the Eastern Hemisphere. We can not allow that to happen, even for the good of the Chinese people.

The fact is we need to convince and are succeeding in convincing liberals (not Leftists) to our cause. Leftists, save for maybe Jimmy Dore, Kyle Kulinski, and Krystal Ball, can not be convinced of what we are saying, but liberals can. I think if we get DeSantis people like Bill Maher, Sam Harris, and the Weinstein brothers will vote for him given what we’re up against. We have to realize what is going on around the world (and it isn’t climate change like the Left and CCP want us to think), unite here, purge the CIA and FBI, take back our institutions from the Far Left, and then take on China whatever that may mean. We’re on a ticking clock and we’ve got 28 years to catch up to China which has had quite the head start.

As with liberals calling you a racist, the trumpkins calling you a RINO is a sure sign that they dont have much substance.

This is coming from a 2 time trump voter.

This is another issue.

Trump has virtually no social media presence to speak of. (And no, his truth social deal is not going to count because the public is not going to sign up for a partisan platform. Twitter and facebook may be partisan but they're grandfathered in.)

Social media is one of Trump's biggest tools if not his biggest tool and how can he expect to wage a good campaign capable of winning without a social media presence?

For reference, Trump mentions on twitter have gone bigly down since he was banned.
