Hannah Gutierrez Reed spoke out to deny certain rumors about the on-set shooting involving Alec Baldwin that left cinematographer Halyna Hutchins dead.

Gutierrez Reed, the armorer on the set of "Rust" who was responsible for the safety and handling of firearms on the set, is a main focus of the investigation into the death of Hutchins, according to Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza. She was one of the very few people who handled the gun prior to Baldwin discharging it on set last Thursday.

However, in a statement made through her attorneys, New Mexico-based lawyers Jason Bowles and Robert Gorence, Gutierrez Reed blamed rushed conditions on the low-budget set for the tragic mishap. She also disputed rumors that the crew used live ammunition for target practice and denied responsibility for two discharges that happened previously, according to Deadline.

The attorneys went on to state that the armorer herself has never had an accidental discharge of a firearm on set. However, they admitted that two took place on "Rust" that were not her fault.

"The first one on this set was the prop master and the second one was a stunt man after Hannah informed him his gun was hot with blanks," they said.

As for the shooting that resulted in the death of Hutchins and left director Joel Souza wounded, Mendoza said during a press conference Wednesday that a live round was recovered from the director’s shoulder. In addition to that bullet, investigators found 500 rounds of ammunition, including a mix of blanks, dummy rounds and what appeared to be live rounds.

quote:

In an affidavit, Gutierrez Reed previously told investigators that there should be no live ammo on the set at all. However, given the evidence found at this time, including live ammunition, Mendoza said this week that he believes that to be "not an accurate statement."

In their statement, her attorneys seemingly shifted the blame away from the set’s armorer to a larger conversation about the resources she was given by producers to ensure the set was safe and up to protocol standards.

She didn’t know what she was doing and had no business being in charge of guns.

These people are def going to throw Alec Baldwin under the bus to save their hides while the Lester Holt media and Entertainment Tonight media run stories about how Baldwin is really the good guy.

The leftist media needs Baldwin to be innocent for political reasons.

If someone burns for this it won’t be Baldwin. He’s part of a protected class. It will be some low level schmo or dumb girl.

They're trafficking drugs and human beings through movie sets. Of course there are going to be real bullets around, and of course "accidental" deaths are going to happen.

Look how close Epstein's Zorro Ranch was from the set

She didn't pull the trigger.

Alec read the script, aimed at a person, pulled the trigger.

Rushed conditions and low budget make you bring live rounds to the set?

True.

And the producers hired her anyway. And I’m sure things will come out showing they knew damn well she shouldn’t have had that job but kept her.

Ok. Let’s say she’s right.

She should have called her mentor (her father) and asked what she should do.

He likely would have said to quit.

But she didn’t quit.

So here we are goth bitch.

Nepotism. Her pops was an armorer as well and worked on big ticket movies.

it’s ultimately her responsibility what happens with the firearms. Just because she was poor at her job doesn’t mean she gets a pass. She should have the firearms secured at all times, either in her sight or under lock and key. That seems like being an armorer 101. Not to mention that there should never be live rounds on a set.

She will ultimately end up taking the fall for this, but it’s really on the producers for hiring someone incapable of doing the job properly.

Honestly I am good with the entire production being burned down because of this.

She’s an idiot but they hired her and kept her own despite known issues. And they had an assistant director fired for lax safety on previous productions who was the one who grabbed the gun and gave it to Baldwin.

The only thing that makes sense in this hire:

Budget-minded Baldwin "paid" her in ink, rainbow hair dye, and nipple rings.

I want my female armorer to look like this...not someone who looks like she is into furry porn.
