Napier utilizes 85% of Saban's "Process"

I found this old article that describes how he came in and shook things up at ULL.
Sports Illustrated 2018 article on Napier
If Napier comes in here, and makes some solid staff hires... I wouldn't be mad. We'd get the Saban Assistant curse, though that couldn't be worse than current.
Sports Illustrated 2018 article on Napier
quote:
It’s all part of The Process, but it’s known here as something else: The Journey. “Alabama says, ‘The Process Begins Here,’” Napier says. “We say, ‘The Journey Starts Here.’”
Napier says about 85% of what he is implementing in Lafayette is in the image of Saban’s program, but he has put his own twist on some items. He breaks up the calendar into eight phases: Foundation (the first two weeks of January), Identity (pre-spring training), Spring Practice, Discretionary (exams and exit meetings), Regimen (summer training), Fall Camp, In-Season and Postseason.
This winter’s workouts mimicked the Fourth Quarter Program that Saban crafted in his days at LSU with longtime Tigers strength coach Tommy Moffitt. Groups of a dozen players moved through four stations in a test of their conditioning, strength and endurance. Head strength coach Mark Hocke spent six seasons on Saban’s staff, moving from an intern who slept on other coaches’ couches to an associate strength staff member who parlayed his success to jobs with Georgia, Texas A&M and Florida State. “We’re cut from the same cloth,” Hocke says, “from that organization in Tuscaloosa.”
If Napier comes in here, and makes some solid staff hires... I wouldn't be mad. We'd get the Saban Assistant curse, though that couldn't be worse than current.

Yeah we've seen this post like 1000 times.

Aranda uses 100% focus as Saban does.

Sounds like when a coach who copied someone else and implemented tell the truth mondays

I can’t believe none of the failed Saban assistant coaches have thought to try to copy Sabans processes. Yep. Napier is the chosen one.

Does that mean he will go 10-2 each year since he’s not using 100% of the process?

What does this really even mean?

ULL buys Dodge Chargers too?

O and Derek copied and pasted Pete Carroll’s book, slapped it in a binder, and put their names on it

If the 15% he doesn't use is Pete Golding, I'd love to have him at Alabama some day

I wish this narrative would end
All coaches, and really any profession, learn from previous jobs
He shouldn’t be hyping that he is using the Alabama process. Just say you have a way of doing things and let the results speak for themselves

It works if you can recruit 5 and 4 star talent
Saban's secret is having better players than everyone else then getting the most out of them...no none sense
it's rocket science
but you have to load the barn with studs, and Saban does it better than anyone

He would be a horrible hire

It like a cookbook. I can use Donald Links recipe exactly and make a good dish. But it won’t be the same as the chef’s.

Didn't he just say on Jordy's show that he is 70% Saban?

It's ULL, dude.
In the same conference as App St., Coastal, Ark. St., and Troy.
* Coastal Carolina didn't even have a football program until 2003. They didn't join the Sun Belt until 2016, and they have already won the conference championship. And had the coach of the year and player of the year.
* App. St. didn't join the Sun Belt until 2014. They have since won 4 conference championships, and a coach of the year. And have had coaches jump to the SEC and ACC.
* Ark. St. has had coaches named Freeze, Malzhan, Harsin. 2 of them went to the SEC, and are now out.
*Troy beat LSU. Have a coach in the Big 12.
ULL has produced none of the above in the 20 years they have been in the Sun Belt. So there was tons of room for improvement. And yet Napier still hasn't even won the conference yet, in his 4th year.
Billy may have improved ULL, but he hasn't even risen to the level of newcomers App St. or Coastal yet.

I mean that's cool and all but what day do they tell the truth?

This seems to be an upgrade over:
Tell da troof Monday
Competition Tuesday
Hit the Portal Wednesday
Weed Suspension Friday
Shite the bed Saturday
