I mean the Giants:

quote:

It was also their 107th win of the season, which set a new franchise record for most wins in a season. It broke the previous record of 106 wins set by the 1904 New York Giants.

In the 2021 regular season, the Giants' batters led the National League in home runs (241), slugging percentage (.440), and OPS (.769).[3][4][5] They hit 18 pinch-hit home runs, a major league record.[6] They were second in the NL in runs (804), RBIs (768), walks (602), and team batting average (.249).

The team's pitchers led the NL in fewest home runs (151) and fewest walks (416). They tied for the league lead with 56 saves.[7]

All that and you don't even make it to the NLCS because your rival bounces you at home.

How about that team that won their division with an even better record, whom the Dodgers eliminated?

The Mariners once won 116 games and missed the World Series.

I don't think you understand the talent difference in these 2 teams. The Giants overachieved.

The Giants had no business winning 107 games, in the first place.

I despise the Doggierds and still have to cut them slack for this season with all of the injuries and rapes that piled up after the All-Star break.

I understand it perfectly.

But this isn't a sport where there are so few games that they fluked their way to a division championship because they got hot for a couple of weeks.

After 162 games they beat out the Dodgers to win the division, beat the Dodgers head-to-head in the regular season (10-9), and set all those league bests and franchise records.

All that to crap out to that same rival in the NLDS.

Just because their pre-season expectations weren't as high doesn't mean they weren't massive underachievers.
