What I said about O when he was first hired. I think I can still stand by it. Aranda is still my personal choice for HC, and it is a possibility.

I am not an O pumper, but I don't think O was a bad choice. Here's why:

1. While Coach O isn't interim anymore, his low salary and lack of a significant buyout means that we can essentially replace him at anytime. If Coach O does well, great. If he doesn't, he can easily be replaced.

2. Recruiting should stay top notch under coach O. If he falters, the next coach will have a full cupboard.

3. Our first choice (JF) was greedy. By walking away we temper the expectations from him if we have to do this again in coming years.

4. The one coach we all don't want to lose is Aranda, but we know in 2-3 years he'll be looking for a HC position. The only way to keep him is if we can offer him a HC job. We can't do that now because he's only been with the program a year and he has no HC experience. He needs a couple more years for everyone to get comfortable with his system. If Coach O falters and is canned mid-season in 2 to 3 years, then Aranda is likely made interim HC. If this audition goes well, he could be our next HC. This is what I'd really like to see.

So to me it looks like a win-win. Either Coach O succeeds (short-term win) or Coach O fails and Aranda is our next HC (long-term win).
Of course it didn't occur to me that he could do well for one season and then commence sucking. But live and learn.

2008: 8-5 overal record. 3-5 SEC record. Convincing bowl game win. Ended season using two true freshman QB's. Before Ryan Perrilloux was kicked off the team, Lee and Jefferson were 3rd and 4th string QB's.

2015: 9-3 overal record. 5-3 SEC record. Very big bowl game win. Finished 16/17 in the polls.

I agree that 2008 was a disappointing season, but I don't know anyone who thinks this year's record is going to be 8-5. In addition, in '08 it didn't feel so disorganized w/ two coordinators who were incompetent. I also don't remember ever feeling like some of the players weren't giving a decent effort in '08. I don't see how anyone can think the '15 season was worse than what we're currently experiencing.

Correct - this is going back to pre-Saban days to find an LSU team with such bad effort, poor conditioning, lack of talent and such horrible coaching.

UCLA, Auburn, Kentucky, and Ole Miss were all more than winnable. There is no excuse to lose to them except for poor coaching, poor game planning, and poor play calling on both sides of the ball.
Coach O made some poor hiring choices. These coaches may do well in another conference, but not the SEC. They are not ready for game preparation in the SEC.

I don't know if you remember, but Ole Miss blew us out by 21 in Miles last year and it was 24-0 in the 2nd quarter before we ever scored a point. To be honest, I'm surprised the score to this game wasn't worse with our poor coaching and lack of adjustments.

We actually out gained plenty miss in 15, had over 500 yds of offense.

2008 I don’t recall, but I’m sure lee threw an int like he did every game.

Still shouldn’t lose these games, but O is gone so it doesn’t matter at this point.

Honestly, a lot of what you posted is bullshite, and the reason why I hated so many O supporters when he was hired.

This is the worst team we've had since the 90s although some of those teams were definitely worse than this one. It just feels so foreign to people after 20+ years to suck again.

You are entitled to your opinion, but I don't see where it makes any difference. Once O was hired there was no point in being upset about it. We were going to have him for a minimum of 3 years regardless of how anyone felt.

Oh, I get that. I just don’t get trying to convince yourself that it was the right move, or that there was any sort of viable logic in the choice, etc.

Losing to Ole Miss by this score is unacceptable. No LSU team should lose to Ole Miss like we did. I can take a last second field goal or a close loss to Ole Miss, but not this shite.

Ole Miss was clearly better coached, and had a better scheme, than LSU did yesterday.

B-level players with a good plan and motivations will beat a poorly coached and unmotivated A/B-level team every time.

It certainly wasn't the best choice, but it could have been worse. We did get that 2019 season even if O only got us there via dumb luck.

Oh for Christ’s sake.

Other than that, how’d you enjoy the play, Mrs. Lincoln?
