We'll find out I guess how much LSU is paying to retain him tomorrow.
Why would he be paid anything other than the buyout? You think he is getting and ACTUAL role in the university with an ACTUAL salary?
Don't be dense

4. This contract prevents him from being employed by any SEC school as a coach in any capacity for 18 months. That means Saban (or anyone else in the SEC) can’t hire him as an analyst. That means he can’t recruit for any other SEC schools
That's not what the contract says. Section 4(c) says he cannot serve "in a head coach capacity" for a SEC school for 18 months.
So the interesting question is whether his other (new) contract will keep him employed after the end of the season, or whether he will have the flexibility (after this season) to go be an Assistant Coach or Analyst at another school.
I don't think Saban (or anyone else) wants their assistant coaches or analysts doing that.
Section 4(c) says LSU retains the rights to his name and likeness for media usage.
So... that seems to knock him out of anything that would appear in a media guide, right? Does Alabama want to pay LSU the royalties to list their new defensive line coach?
And this one uses the following language:
During the Term, Employee hereby grants University an irrevocable, non-exclusive, non-assignable, non-transferrable worldwide limited license to use Employee's name and approve likeness in media, advertising and promotional materials in support of the LSU athletics program in a non-commercial capacity
I'm not a lawyer, someone help me out here. Sounds like O can not back out of this one even if he wants to.

I mean, just this is enough to fire the guy. What self respecting 60 year old man would make THIS LLC?
In all fairness, every damn name you can think of has been taken even with adding something at the end like “of LA”. All taken.

He will be paid at minimum thru the remainer of the year, the longer they lock him up... the better chance he doesn't recruit for someone else.
Ed's value to another team will be in 8-12 weeks.
Transfers are the name of the game.

He just banked $17 million, I can’t imagine he would waste his time doing that.

Without actually saying so it limits O’s ability to coach due to LSU’s license to his likeness. Should O decide to coach at anytime still covered by the buyout, then his payments from LSU end. Makes sense from LSU’s standpoint. No reason to pay him a coaching salary if some other institution is also paying him to coach. Nothing surprising there.

bet his soon to be ex wife is happy about this too! She’s about to get paid! From my understanding there divorce isn’t final yet.
Legal separation ends community property entitlement, divorce does not have to be finalized.

You're very short sided to view this as "throwing away." Burreaux helped bring in more than $250 million in a very short period of time. Whether Oeaux is worth the settlement or NOT, as the guy who takes responsibility, this is a very minor chunk. The blame on pay should be directed to those above his pay grade that made these executive decisions. Every "national champion" HC earns over exaggerated funds. That just comes with the title. Imagine if a no name school like Coastal Carolina inexplicably won the holy grail of college football. While it COULD happen, it's almost a certainty it would NEVER occur. Even then, I'm just guessing they couldn't fork out more than $1-2 million bonus. If I were the AD of any Power 5 school, I'd reward the national champion HC with $5 million and if similar results occurred the following year, then and only then would I consider renegotiating a contract. SEC schools in particular throw away WAY TOO MUCH over hype.

It clearly says he is required to appear on the behalf of LSU at least once a year, for the next 4 years. I'm sure the fans of Bama or Ole Miss are going to be excited when he shows up in an LSU polo to announce the incoming recruits for that year.
Highest paid recruiting coordinator ever. frick it. We know O can recruit his arse off. I’m not against it.

I believe I always said he was going to get his buyout
Hot Fkn take there lol.
Half the posters said he’d get the buyout, the others were hoping he’d be fired for cause based off local media takes.
You also claimed he’d be at Alabama and recruit against LSU…have all top players transfer. We all remember.
quote:
If they don't retain Ed, he can package players up... its not a theory.
quote:
This only stops Ed from signing and dealing, I still expect a good portion of the top players to skip town... heck, they already stopped playing.
Ohhh lol
So the players that Stopped playing for Ed we’re gonna just follow Him, huh? LMFAO
quote:
Its free agency bro, just like I said.
Yeah, Another hot Fkn take, bro. No one has heard about this transfer portal you speak of.
Ed will get the best deals to pay LSU players to transfer…the same players you said already quit on him lmfao

I thought LSU was run by state government, not federal. Let’s go, Brandon.

Is that Orgeron's original agreement or is that the negotiated agreement?
Listening( but did not hear the full explanation) on WWL last night I thought the buy-out was negotiated down.

Go back to law school Matlock. New contact after NC signed while married. It's her buyout as much as his.

Why can't he be demoted to a d kine coach for the next 4 years. Have him still be apart of team, but actually doing work

Because that would be an awful locker room.
