You're very short sided to view this as "throwing away." Burreaux helped bring in more than $250 million in a very short period of time. Whether Oeaux is worth the settlement or NOT, as the guy who takes responsibility, this is a very minor chunk. The blame on pay should be directed to those above his pay grade that made these executive decisions. Every "national champion" HC earns over exaggerated funds. That just comes with the title. Imagine if a no name school like Coastal Carolina inexplicably won the holy grail of college football. While it COULD happen, it's almost a certainty it would NEVER occur. Even then, I'm just guessing they couldn't fork out more than $1-2 million bonus. If I were the AD of any Power 5 school, I'd reward the national champion HC with $5 million and if similar results occurred the following year, then and only then would I consider renegotiating a contract. SEC schools in particular throw away WAY TOO MUCH over hype.

I've been reading the trolls who lash out at Coach O for a few years now and while I actually liked Les (Miles) for awhile, to fire him a few games into the season was bad. I'd feel similar if they fired Orgeron in the same manner. :banghead: :violin: Coach O would be solid as a defensive coach in the LSU program but as a HEAD COACH?! He bleauxs big baby chunks. I for one would prefer a younger (under 40) coach who is enthusiastic about coaching and direction. None of the Trump-like BS!!! Kendall Briles would be my 1st choice. Next is the Cincinnati coach.
