I don't know what that big fish is. But he is not looking for a top 15 job he is looking for a top two or three job.

Forget about auburn and South Carolina.

From the advertiser last year "But it was learned Tuesday by The Daily Advertiser that the Cajuns have no fear at all that they will lose the 40-year-old Napier to Baylor, much like they had no fear of losing him to Mississippi State either"

The cajuns know he is not leaving. put that in perspective.
Dude wants bama, Clemson, or Lsu.

The dude would probably walk from Lafayette to Baton Rouge if it meant he could coach here

He's not getting hired at any of those three schools anytime soon, he should quit waiting.

Bama or Clemson? Good Lord. So he's the top ranked head coach out there? Hope he's holding his breath.

There was some thought he wanted the South Carolina job so he could punish Clemson for firing him, but he turned them down.

I’m shocked he turned down Auburn. That’s a great job with few barriers to winning.

He would certainly take LSU.

But it does still have a few barriers that some other schools don’t have.

My conspiracy theory is he and Woody have communicated ever since 2020 and they’ve already got a gentleman’s agreement in place to have serious conversations when the appropriate time comes, hence he didn’t take the USC or Auburn jobs. At a minimum, Woodward promised sincere and serious consideration if the LSU job were to come open.

I’m not saying he’s my top choice, I’m just saying it could possibly explain him passing on the other good but not great jobs.

The only flaw in that theory is Napier obviously does not fit the mold of a typical Woodward hire, so it would be very surprising if he was always after Napier as his target.

Or it could be as simple as Napier is very confident in his abilities and is super patient and content waiting on exactly the right fit job for him.

Time to open the coaching changes board so we can get it all figured out

Auburn didn't want to allow him to make his own staff hires. Or the boosters and powers at be wanted way more input on who he could hire. That is why he turned them down.

I think they forced Harsin to hire an in state guy for WR coach and it only took what? 4 games for him to can him and bring in someone he worked with previously?

So what's he gonna do if those schools want a coach that's won at the P5 level?

Perfect... As Bama and Clemson aren't going to hire him, we don't have to be in any rush. He can continue to develop his craft down on our farm team.
