So was going to say be thankful your plane is still scheduled to take off but I've got some bad news for you. So far, your inbound plane is still stuck in Chicago O'Hare from nasty thunderstorms there this evening. Departure delays are at least 30 minutes so even with the flight supposed to take off at 6:45pm central time I wouldn't expect it to take off for at least another 30 minutes. Earliest it lands in Baltimore is 9:50pm
LINK
Southwest could change your inbound aircraft to another one, but if you're using the crew from that flight then your flight must wait until that one arrives...
Looks like it at least started taxiing at 657pm Central time. Just took off at 7:27pm, landing in BWI at 9:50pm hopefully at the gate just after for a quick turn. My guess is departure time of 10:30pm.

If anyone is flying WN today…be prepared. Lots of cancellations…again lol.

Oddly enough today doesn't seem as bad as compared to the past few days, wondering if it's just because it's a tuesday and fewer flights operating.
Daily morning cancellation update-
Cancelled- 89 (2%)
Delayed- 296 (8%)
Flight aware cancelled list

That’s good news for them. I was just commuting to ATL and checked the monitor at my airport and all WN flights there were cancelled. Perhaps they’re recovering.

There is no "strike" or job action at Southwest...

If you will note the time of my OP I was not here to quibble over labor matters. Still am not. “Strike” was the word the girl at the Hyatt used.
Are you being sarcastic or telling me it’s weather related?

It's a combination of factors involving weather, Southwest's route structure, ATC staffing and crew frustrations over how it has been handled. It's not work action over politics, covid, etc.

Think we found the union man.
Look dude I won’t say anything else about SWA pilots or my thoughts. Just make my plane from Pittsburgh gets here to take us to Houston. It already delayed 50 mins.

I don't work for Southwest, but I am close enough with people and have been in the industry long enough to know. Fly an airline using a hub and spoke system and you'll be fine.

Where are you? In the US? Just rent a car and enjoy the drive. Much better than being stuck somewhere in my opinion.

Home now. Was Orlando. And everyone within 100 miles of any airports agreed with you.

Would it be a bad idea to book with them?
I'd be hesitant, I want to see how this weekend goes and see if they cancel anything again

Flew SWA DAL-PWM yesterday with a plane change at Midway and all was well.

Just to finish this off, our return trip today was uneventful also. In fact, 2 of our kids and 2 nieces are on SWA this weekend with no issues. DAL- LAS; ATL; and Bozeman.

So the strike is over? Who won?
Posted on 10/17/21 at 1:54 pm to SpringBokCock
it was never a strike. It was a bunch of pilots using sick days that they expected they would lose in the event they were fired due to the company's vaccine mandate deadline approaching. So there were fewer pilots avaailable to fly. SW Airlines backed down and said they wouldn't require the vaccine.

I was not changing my title. I used the word the hotel receptionist used when she heard us say “Southwest”. Despite what got said later. I believe it was a coordinated sick out. They can never and will never admit it.
