So the Texas school shooter has been charged with...aggravated assault with a firearm?

Almost like it was the gun's fault.
Why wasn't he charged with attempted murder?

in Texas have arrested the suspect in the mass school shooting in Timberview High School. Timothy George Simpkins, 18, has been charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault with a firearm. The school was placed on lockdown.

has anyone died? idk about up in the dallas area but its my understanding that attempted murder doenst really exist in houston until like investigators and the DA get involved. its either murder or a completed aggravated assault so maybe thats why

If someone died, then the word “attempted” isn’t necessary. Maybe they’ll tack on the charge later like someone already said. Cause it sounds like attempted murder.
