Had a customer call me a redneck motherfricker, which pissed me off, since I come from a long line of Cajuns.
Another customer told a co-worker that if I was "rude" to her again, she was gonna zap me with her taser.
I said (to the co-worker) she better be quick, because I'd beat the ever loving frick out of her, in self-defense, of course.

If anyone knows who Sandra "18 Wheeler" Hester is (local NOLA race hustler) absolutely nobody at our shop liked delivering pizza to her.

I loved waiting tables in college. It wasn’t necessarily my “worst” customer, but it’s definitely the one that pisses me off the most when I look back at it. I was serving in our large party room which was usually feast or famine. Either you had a bunch of large groups and made a bunch of tips or you didn’t. Just always worked out that way.

Anyway, large family (grandparents to all the kids, ~25 total) comes in after church. Everything went fine. I was busy and closed out the table and they were on their way so I was worrying about other tables. We had a text your manager system so my manager comes up and tells me that big table left a glowing review for me. That got me excited because it was a huge bill and means I probably got a huge tip.

Finally get a minute to check. Not one penny in tip. I guess they thought the kind words were a tip. Still makes me angry thinking about it.

I worked at a mom and pop pizza shop that was connected to a gas station when I was in high school. I made pizzas and would stock the gas station during my down time. One night I have to make about 15 pizzas for a basketball game and I have a lady call and order two pizzas. I told her it would be about 30 minutes because of the order I had ahead of hers. She told me she would be there in 10 minutes and her pizzas better be ready. She shows up I haven’t started making her pizzas, she calls me a racist because she is black and I was making pizzas before hers. I apologize and she sits down for me to make her pizza and was gonna watch me to make sure I didn’t do anything to them. What the dumb bitch didn’t know is that I added about two bottles of milk of magnesia to the batch of pizza sauce just for her and made her pizzas. She inspected and proceeded to eat a piece before she left. I hope she didn’t have a long drive.

I was delivering for Papa John's and the absolute farthest delivery in our zone was a dumpy apartment complex that had a regular customer. A guy in his late thirties living with his mom. Always ordered the same pizzas, always cost the same: $19.58. Never tipped.

Pizza drivers had to bring their own change, usually not a problem because I had a cupholder of coins. Typically I'd just grab a handful then put it in my pocket not really checking for a variety of coins expecting that I would be told to just keep the change. But this guy he always watched as you counted out his 42 cents.

One delivery, I was low on change and gave the guy a quarter, dime, and a nickel. Told him I'd go check for two pennies in the car. None. No nickels either. So I walk back over with a dime, tell him that he could give me back the nickel, and he could have the dime and not worry about the 3 cents. fricker says "what nickel?"

He called the store before I made it back to complain that I wasn't carrying enough change. When the manager heard that I essentially got shorted, he personally delivered back his money for that order, but told him we were no longer delivering to his area.

Well, first day ever working in my life was at 16 at a movie theater. I was at the pop corn station when a white couple and black couple ran out into the lobby screaming at each other about to brawl…….

You can use your imagination. It was quite The manager actually did a good job of calming them down.

I think the white couple had a kid who kept kicking the seat of the black couple or something and the black couple told the white couple to control their kid….. don’t remember what movie that was

Also, not worst but super awkward. Same job, this frail very old lady walked up and ordered pop corn and I said “$3.25 ma’am,” and she took out a quarter and slammed it on the counter and walked off with the pop corn saying something about me being greedy and ridiculous. Her son walked up and paid the difference and explained she grew up during the depression and didn’t quite understand inflation.

When I was waiting tables a kid threw up all over the table and the mom sat there and watched me clean it up. Didn't help at all.

When I was a waiter we were right by a church and they always treated me well.

We were in the edge of town and I always got small town football teams that came in right at close and never left tips. That was always a bit enraging because I was manager/waiter and had to stay for close no matter what. Staying till 12 on a Friday night with a huge mess and no tip was a dock move.

Worst customer experience: big mlm company meeting came in 10 minutes before close. I only let them in because it was my friends parents and a few of their friends. Turns out a shitload more were on their way. Endes up probably around 60 people. I had already sent most of the kitchen home by this point. So me and 1 cook had to cook all these meals while our poor FoH girl worked her arse off. They stayed till close to midnight (2 hours past close). End of the night, they left $10 tip.

This hits way too close to home.

When I was in HS, I worked at Pizza Hut. We used to have tour buses full of Indians (dots, not feathers) come into the restaurant at 11:45 or so (we closed at 12:15-12:30) and order at least 15-20 large pizzas with green peppers and onions only. At this time of night, we were down to 3 people- the manager, a cook/dishwasher (me) and a waitress. The tour bus would fill the entire dining room (60 people or so). Total tip left on all bills was usually less than $10. Every. Single. Time.

Then, it would take me until 2:30 or 3am to get all the dishes and pans washed. God, I hated those nights...

Good friend worked at Dillard’s in Lakeside Mall, Metairie. Couple days after Essence Fest every year, the deluge of returns of heavily worn, stretched and sweated in clothes was mind boggling.

Pentecostals did this to me so many fricking times.

Literally TWO minutes until close, everything clean, stocked, covered, books done, only myself and one other person left - filled the fricking restaurant and blacked out the Please Don’t Make Me Have to Clean This Again bingo card.

Joint was walk up order and grab your food from expo, so tips were nahhhhh.

That reminds me of something that happened two years ago when I was a customer at a restaurant. Guy comes in to say he is picking up a catering order he paid for. There are two teenagers working and they say they have no record that there was supposed to be one. Eventually the guy says, ok well can you just give me a few things if you’re not able to make the entire order. The guy is patient as can be and starts chatting it up with another customer with a kid. I think to myself that this guy is remarkably calm after they totally screwed up his order. They give him a few items and he leaves. After hearing the workers talk, I realize the whole thing was a scam. They just obliged with him to keep the peace.

Pentecostals

A Pentecostal woman told me how Fifty Shades of Gray changed her life and how she modeled her sex life after it … which if you think … whatever it’s the library, patrons overshare often … but I worked in the children’s section

That's a badass manager.

For a short while, I delivered pizza for that little place at highland/staring. Good pizza, and when I wasn't delivering, I got to build pizzas, make dough, stuff like that. I love working in kitchens, so that was fun.

I had a delivery to a neighborhood adjacent to Burbank/Gardere. We already had sections of Gardere blocked off, but this neighborhood wasn't, so I went. When I got out of the car, two pitbulls lunged at me, but were yanked back by chains around their neck. The delivery took back my tip money when they found out they weren't paying cheap pizza prices for the not cheap pizza they ordered.

I went back, told the manager exactly what happened, he took a big black marker and completely blacked out the entire neighborhood.

frick shitty neighborhoods, and frick the people in them.

My wife and I both worked in restaurants while in college and it left us with two outlooks: the general public is retarded and always treat your waiter/waitress well (we rarely have a bad experience with service).

I also worked as a table games dealer for a couple of years in the late 90s. The money was good at the time, but dealing with drunk people losing money made for quite a few instances where I wanted to beat the shite out some customers.
