This thread so far seems to be just about the best ducks to hunt and eat. The best tasting gourmet ducks that are raised for eating are the Pekin, Rouen and Muscovy. If you want to raise a good tasting duck that are also decent egg layers, then Appleyard and Saxony ducks are hard to beat.

This is the outdoor board. If you wanna talk about raising ducks, hit up the home and garden board.

Agreed. Your seed eaters (pintail and gwt) and your nut eating woodie have the best flavor. Wigeon are usually mild, and predictable and grain focused so they're usually good and relatively fat.

Mallards are such a damn crap shoot. Some are plump and fresh off corn or rice and taste fine, if a little mild. But others have literally been eating French fries and crackers at a park, are lean and taste pretty rough.

Grey duck is my least favorite of the puddle ducks.

I feel you cannot lump all teal together as equal. There is not comparison between GW and BW teal. GW teal are the best, BW teal way down on the list. I pretty much agree with this. LINK /
