He has already admitted that he did a poor job of reading the pressures and adjusting his protection. Most of that is on him.

Just because he’s taking the blame doesn’t mean most of it is on him. The o line need to be better going forward.

Basically he took the heat round because they were not getting the plays in fast enough for him to actually make the pre-snap reads.
We had Ian Book in charge of substitutions. That’s how short handed we were.
This wasn’t on Winston, or anyone else for that matter. This was us missing 8 coaches and damn near a starting squad due to injury and or covid.

Where did you see or read this at? I'm just curious because I read something pregame where Payton was stretched so thin trying to take up the slack this week that he had to lean on veteran players to fill in for certain coaching staff roles this week. I definitely believe what you posted.

Mike Hoss mentioned it on the radio broadcast.

Thanks man
Sounds like this a chaotic week of preparation & an even more chaotic day on the Saints sidelines.

The problem is that as soon as he was pressured, he reverted back to old Jameis.

I think they even mentioned it on the FOX pregame show

And that’s exactly what you want ur QB to say. Did you really expect him to say “Our O-Line was Dog shite today & I was running for my Life every time I dropped back”?
The Tampa Jameis probably would have said something Stupid & blamed everyone other than himself! Sounds to me like he’s growing up a little, yea?
BTW: Old Jameis would have thrown 5 Ints today!

I am in no way giving him a pass, but I really only count 1 INT for Jameis, and that is the off balance YOLO throw. The second one was when the game was out of hand and even Brees was prone to those.

I appreciate someone else is pointing this out. Stats truly don't always tell the story.
I don't fault him for an INT where we were behind multiple scores with not enough time left. It was desperation time on I think 3rd and long? I don't even remember, but might as well at that point.

We really missed McCoy calling the protections. Goes to show why Ruiz was playing RG this season and not vice versa.

This is going to be the recipe. When you have no receivers who can separate, the front 7 will come at you hard.
Posted on 9/20/21 at 8:27 am to AmazinGrace
Brees would have carved out that defense

Right… CSP refused to allow the press to use missing coaches as an excuse and took all the blame on himself as well but clearly having 8 coaches out made a big difference

I don’t understand why Saints fans cling on to a below average quarterback like Jameis.
Posted on 9/20/21 at 9:25 am to AmazinGrace
Hes neither as good as last week or as shitty as this week.
But the actual trends toward the latter.

O-Line looked poor, but Winston was terrible. No peripheral vision, holding the ball too long, inaccurate, throwing it up for grabs. All he has going for him is a strong arm, but without any brains, it's meaningless.

dont prove yourself to be more of an idiot then you already are
you think the o-line should make their own reads and change protections all on their own? the QB alone does that and the QB alone gets 100% blame for not doing it
