Looks like they have a new attorney.

This morning #BrainLaundrie’s family could be seen leaving their North Port home. I asked their attorney where they went since people were wondering if they possibly were with police and he replied with:

No we do not know he fled, he left. She is classified as a homicide, not a murder yet or did they announce a cause of death?

There are a few facts being sprinkled around with a lot of speculation being passed off as analysis both in this thread and on national media.

Also, based on previous post, it did not seem to take long for them to process the crime scene where the body was found.

What are everyone's thoughts to the story line of him hitch hiking a ride on 8/29 (offering to pay $200 for a 10 mile ride), had backpack hiking boots, non dirty etc and going out of his way to tell people his fiance was alone at the van while he was gone for several days (meaning when he knew she was killed) If Brian had left gabby alone, she surely would have been communicating with her family imo given she had time away from brian if he was off for days. But nope. Zilch, then fake text about stan. This was 2 days after their last known gabby appearance at restaurant on 8/27.

I think the whole hitchhiking episode portrays a guy who is really weird and is prone to acting in ways that aren't rational. I can't make any sense of it at all. But that's just my opinion.

The more I think of the cops behavior at the traffic stop being investigated the more it bothers me. They weren't informed of the specifics of the 911 call, they did their best to diffuse the situation. Gave some pretty good advice. and separated them for the night to allow them to cool off.

Yes a tragedy followed but they can't just send everyone to jail, especially out of state travelers/vacationers. They are a tourist area and the chamber of commerce would explode.

What are they investigating about the stop particularly?

"The Moab City Police Department has clear standards for officer conduct during a possible domestic dispute and our officers are trained to follow those standards and protocol," the city said in a statement Thursday. "At this time, the City of Moab is unaware of any breach of Police Department policy during this incident. However, the City will conduct a formal investigation and, based on the results, will take any next steps that may be appropriate."

Hopefully just a fair review and not a witch hunt where somebody has to pay. The cops didn't have the luxury of hindsight.

That should be part of the investigation...why weren't they informed? I don't think investigating necessarily presumes that the cops did anything wrong...just that there was a breakdown in the system and what can be done to improve.

I don't think there's much more the cops could have done. Even if they had taken someone to jail, it may have just delayed the inevitable, if it was such a toxic relationship. If he was prone to killing her then, what would have changed over the next few months?

They’ve probably been blown up with “Yall had the psycho right there and did nothing!” Type stuff.

Maybe, but the investigation is in response to a specific request from a third party.

"Moab Police Chief Bret Edge said an "outside party" requested a formal investigation into how officers handled that incident August 12 between Petito, who later went missing and whose body was found Sunday in Wyoming, and her fiancé, Laundrie, who has been named a person of interest in the case and remains missing. "

You can bet money that the "outside party" was her family or her family's attorney.

I agree, guess I just worry about the notoriety of the case leading to some sacrificial lambs.

I wonder if they know something more than we don’t. Maybe gabby called them and told them about it and said Brian was lying or something.
