I'm a physician in West Texas and thankfully got a script for Ivermectin through for some relatives today. Living in the middle of nowhere with mom and pop pharmacies has its benefits sometimes

It is not approved to treat covid so it is well within their role to not fill it.

Lol y’all have lost your minds. Pharmacists can refuse to fill a script for any reason they deem clinically inappropriate.

Go to a different pharmacy if you don’t like it but you’re gonna be running out of options once boards of pharmacy require a non-covid diagnosis code, and that day is rapidly approaching.

You still haven't said WHY it should not be prescribed. Nor what should be prescribed in it's place.

Frankly, you look like a clown celebrating this.

But that's nothing new.

It's a bizarre thing to dance a jig over. It's like people actually being happy that others are forced to choose between the vaccine and their job. I get maybe being indifferent, but happy? That's demented.

Maybe you're not understanding, so let me state it plainly.

Yes, it is.

Sure. They can. But they rarely do. And mandating this company wide is being done for politics.

No. They should be able to refuse to fill prescriptions they feel are unsafe/illegal. But they need to be consistent. It's one hundred percent within their right.

So they shouldn't fill the epilepsy medicine my wife takes for restless legs?
Should they question her about it being off-label?
Should they require some diagnosis of epilepsy to justify her getting the medicine?
Or should they just mind their own damned business and do their job?

You are absolutely correct. The beginning of covid caused me to start using local banks, and for reasons a bit different than the op I started using a local pharmacist a few months ago.

It's hilarious when yall flaunt your stupidity with these comments. There's a lot of medication taken by both humans and animals.

My wife only refuses scripts that she can tell are forgeries.

She will refuse to fill until verification from the doctor if the script is for a drug that will possibly interact or adversely react with current medication OR if the dosage is unusual and needs verification.

Both of the above scenarios happen more often than you would think.

Personally, I trusted the doctor's office for an antibiotic after my wife called twice to verify dosage. On her third attempt she got past the nurses and to the doctor who said “oh shite” when she told him the dosage. This took a couple of days to straighten out. I was ODing on a powerful antibiotic due to a clerical error. The gastric pain was intense. My wife has never and will never let go of her big listen to me moment.

Well, then the Pharms need to refuse to fill, or call docs to verify, ALL opioid scripts and narcotic cough meds. Abuse and off label purple drank use is rampant. If they are gonna be righteous assholes, be consistent. I have had a script for Ivermectin sitting at Winn Dixie for a month unfilled. Thank God I gave an alternate source.

You should read my other post. Someone said it should be criminal for them to refuse to fill it. There are times that it is appropriate, but there is a proper way to handle it. And they should be consistent when they deny these as they fill shite everyday that is off label or questionable. We agree, but that is part of their job. Most do it well, but there are some self righteous assholes that wanna play doctor.
