is the causeway bridge open? looks like 1-12 may be closed west as well?

Wife needs to get out and get her dad somewhere to get oxygen.

And word on road issues between Lafayette and Franklin?

If I had to guess, I'd say it's ok ... but I don't know how to confirm. I'll see waht I can find.

Edit: Franklin is a bit before Morgan City and Morgan City is the edge of things before it starts to get bad. I'm seriously thinking 90 is good between LFT/Franklin.

FMtTXtiger, can y'all call an emergency number to help with his O2 needs??

I'd try calling 911 or the like and ask what their suggestion would be ..

If you or your sister can confirm i10 is open that would be great. I’m near her and want to come back in. Hesitant bc I’m 5 hours away and don’t want to drive just to get turned back

Waze says I could exit off I10 at 173. Wonder if that’s accurate?

I know this will be downvoted to hell and back, but understand I'm sitting on pins and needles right now too with family and friends that were impacted.

You guys need to let emergency services assess the damage, assess the roads, etc. before trying to head home. You're going to end up taking resources away from the people that stayed and need them right now, and there's also a risk that you'll get turned back.

Until at least the roads have been cleared, all you're doing is putting yourself in harm's way.

It's shitty to have to wait, but you really need to consider this and give it another day or two before trying to get back.

EDIT: I'm talking about the hard hit areas like Terrebonne, Lafourche, LaPlace, Grand Isle, etc., not areas like BR.

With Katrina I left south texas with a pickup truck loaded with gen set, a/c, food, water and canned gas with the objective of arriving in Luling at 2 am to avoid traffic. Got stopped at the Raceland bridge and Des allmands bridge by state police. They approved my onward travel with ID and a specific address to go to. Not a thief, not a hurricane chaser

Have you gotten oxygen? NOLA just announced locations to get Oxygen but there were too many for me to write down ... if you can't get to a location they said to call 504-658-2558.

PLEASE if you see this let me know if you got the message.

I just drove I-10 West from BSL to New Orleans(Elysian Fields exit) and there were no issues. Light traffic both ways the whole way.
