Where do the birds go?

Sitting here in eastern Baton Rouge watching the trees shake and waiting for much worse. Had me thinking. Just where do the birds go during a hurricane? I mean like the cardinals and sparrows and all the small songbirds. Do they just hunker down on the inside limbs, do they go to ground, or do they just kiss their feathery little asses goodbye?

Idk but I still haven’t taken my hummingbird feeders down
They have 3 or 4 still out there fighting over them
I’ll take them down as late as possible
I don’t understand how they don’t get blown away as small as they are

It's weird that you asked this question. This is the first time I have seen birds flying around during a hurricane. Some of them are seeking shelter on my patio fan. The bad thing is they fly off when I go out there. I am in Metairie and it's pretty windy right now..

Damn good question, but I guarantee you when I put the feeders back out after this shite storm, they will be assaulting them like Omaha Beach.

When I was mowing the backyard yesterday in BR I noticed all 50 or so of the ducks and geese that reside in our neighborhood pond were gone.

I was watching some hawks earlier and wondered the same thing

Can only say what I saw, but they were just flying sideways at 60mph

The government has them in storage. Those things are expensive.
They didn't even bother taking this one out of it's protective wrapper.

Back to their government docking station for updates and charging.

I believe that they hunker down.

My mom in BR said they were going crazy on a suet block a little while ago so she was going to leave it as long as she could… I always thought they migrated away from stuff way ahead.

Theu fly south, and the west, then east, then north, then east, then up, then down, basically all around.

There’s some swans that live in a lake down the street from me and I was wondering if they will make it. Not sure what they can do but get low
