Office Of Naval Intelligence Warns Military Retirees To Not Disrespect The Biden Admin

In an email from the ONI’s Chief of Staff, ONI members were reminded that per a Uniform Code of Military Justice and Department of Defense Directive clause they cannot disrespect senior government leadership. This includes the President, Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense, and more.
quote:
While it is vital to protect the constitutional right of freedom of expression for these groups, consistent with mission accomplishment, national security, and good order and discipline, it’s important to remember certain limitations. Namely, uniformed personnel and military retirees are prohibited from disrespecting senior government leadership (e.g. the President, Vice President, Congress, Secretary of Defense, Service Secretaries, etc.).
quote:
Even for civilians, you are reminded of the danger that your public comments will/could be attributed to ONI or the Department of Defense. While you are entitled to your opinion and to share your opinion amongst those you know and trust, being too vocal in criticism of, say, the President or members of the military and civilian leadership may reflect poorly on ONI. It is important to share your opinions, if you choose to do so, in a professional manner that does not call into question your employment, the Department of Defense, or the federal government as a whole.
quote:
In other portions of the email, ONI members are reassured that their investment in the Afghanistan war was not a waste of time. They were also directed to military crisis lines if they needed help following the fallout.

That has to be a Babylon Bee article, yes?
Or is this "Uniform code of Military Justice and Department of Defense Directive" something new that wasn't in effect when Trump was in office?

Vets get preferential hiring for government jobs, and this is a not-so-veiled threat that they will lose their jobs if they criticize the current shitshows.

That would be Captain Scott Chesbrough, serving as ONI's Cheif of Staff since 2018.
Quetsion: Did he direct everyone to not criticize Trump as well while serving under him?

So, there is a bright line between opinion and disrespect that is legally recognized?

DOD needs a good enema of testosterone.

Perhaps several thousand people should email Captain Chesbrough and ask

I keep telling my family not to think the military is cavalry on the other side of the hill riding to save us.
There's nothing on the other side of the hill, we're on our own.

You cannot criticize Kim Jung Biden

So as a military retiree, I’m now expected to not criticize or disrespect Biden and his administration on social media???

You would be incorrect. I'm currently assigned to ONI and he was relieved by Captain Danny Noles last year. Alabama boy and my former CO. He's just re-stating what has been official DOD policy for a minute.

I'll consult with the Constitution about how to handle instructions from the Office of Naval Intelligence, and get back to ya on that.
