.@Big12Conference has brought in former West Va AD and XFL commish Oliver Luck as a consultant, according to league sources. He is widely respected in the industry and some folks had touted him for the Pac 12 commissioner opening. More coming on my radio show @1660ESPN.

Guess he isn’t returning to the xfl

Isn't he suing Vince McMahon over the xfl debacle?

Yes, last I heard.
The league terminated him a day before they ceased operations, which would have paid him out the rest of his contract.

Yeah I don't think that's the answer
If anything he can help fold the Big 12
I feel sorry for Baylor coming off that hoops natty
I feel sorry for TCU who finally got to the big table only to lose their spot
I feel sorry for Kansas that could decimate their hoops program although I could see Big 10 throw them a lifeline.

No one knows running a successful collection of football teams like Oliver Luck.

Brigadier General Oliver Luck helped win the Civil War, don't write him off just yet.

What has Oliver Luck done to be respected as a consultant? I feel like I've only seen him do harm to programs. Am I wrong here?

He has done a lot of good stuff including getting WVU into the Big 12 when options were limited. XfL ending up being destroyed wasn't his fault.

He's not terrible but I think he's waaaay overhyped.

it isn't his fault, but there's nothing he can do to save the Big XII... the markets make them DOA

That would be kinda funny

I doubt he can help them. They might as well hire Art Schlichter.

You might as well feel sorry for Penn State. KU decided through the decades to not make FB a priority. It's not like hoops took away from football when we all know that FB generates more revenue.
I never root for Kentucky FB because they made the decision to treat it as inferior to basketball. You might as well feel sorry for Indiana FB, and Duke FB.
The number of school who have won national titles or done well in FB and Basketball is very small. You have like Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, UCLA, Florida, Arkansas, Syracuse (believe it or not) and Maryland (believe it not) who have won national titles in FB and men's BB.

Out of all of those, I think Michigan and Florida are the only two who won both in the last 50 years.

Fine. Alabama's FB championships then don't count if they occurred 50 years ago.

I wasn't disagreeing with you. Schools basically decide to be football focused or basketball focused, you are correct in that.
My point being that winning a basketball championship before 1970 was easier for larger (mostly Big Ten) schools than it was after 1970
