How many points does LSU need to win by against UCLA to start really feeling like a good season is on the horizon. I don't want to win by 7 or 10.

For me, 17 point win at least feels like we're back!

Play hard and limit mistakes, the score will take care of itself if we do that.

Two scores of any kind ahead will be fine by me. First game of the season is rough.

I dont like the question/premise. Excuse the cliche answer but you take them one at a time and 1 point is all you need. And winning by 30 doesn’t mean much in terms of predicting other games.

Just win. We have a new OC and new DC, and while I'm a fan of Max, he's still relatively inexperienced.

UCLA on the other hand returns a bunch of starters, and lost a bunch of close games last season. They'll want this one.

If it's a tight game in the 4th quarter, I'm not going to think less of this team.

1. Just win. 2. Make as few errors as possible especially on D. 3. NO injuries.

28-24.

We are sloppy early and trail at the half 21-7.

In the second half we dominate. We hit victory formation and get out of town 1-0.

They will have a game under their belt, plus, we are going across the country. Lastly, they are a pretty good team.

I’d honestly like a 20 point win but more than anything I’d like to shut them down to show our defense is back. To me that’s more important than scoring 40. I’d be fine with a 27-6 game or even 35-10. We need a statement win for our team to feel their confidence again and not be questioned in the media and on here every week.

I don’t care how many points they win by, that depends a lot on how UCLA plays. I care more about how well they play, limit mistakes and dominate the game.

LSU 37-10 (4 TD and 3 FG) with 500 yards of offense (320 passing and 180 rushing), and we need to look and feel something is different on offense like when we played Georgia Southern in the first game in 2019.

However, the key we need to see in this game is the defense is fixed and we dominate on that side of the ball. DL and CB ball out and LB and safety play is surprisingly good. We hold them to 3-12 on third downs, 310 total yards (230 passing and 80 rushing), which would be a solid first game.

This is dumb.
It all depends on how good UCLA is.

It’s week one on the road out west. Just win.

I expect UCLA to score some points. But Id like to see us wear them out in the 2nd half, especially the 4th qtr. Force a turnover late, protect the ball, move the chains and secure 2 score victory.

UCLA isn't a great team IMO. I say we should win by 21

I’d have extreme optimism for the remainder of our season if we go out and beat the shite out of UCLA. By 21 or more

Anything less is hard to say bc by all accounts UCLA isn’t very good and we have so many questions.

So for me, I’d say at least win by 7 field goals

Too many of you are overthinking this without looking at how UCLA actually stacks up. Their defense struggled last year and even their own media is skeptical they have improved. I don’t see them being able to stop our offense consistently.

Just look back at last year, when we scored almost at will on weak defenses despite all of our many limitations due to injuries and lack of creativity in the scheme. We will have plenty of first game mistakes, but I think talent alone gets us to 35-45 points. As long as we don’t have too many turnovers, the points will come.

The key is our defense limiting their offense, as they have a good QB and one of the best OL prospects in this draft class. That will be a great measuring stick for our DL, and the entire defense, in general. They will decide the outcome of this game.
