Mike Richards is out as the executive producer of "Jeopardy!" shortly after stepping down as host of the quiz show when past offensive comments of his resurfaced.
"Mike will no longer be serving as EP of ['Wheel of Fortune'] and 'Jeopardy!' effective immediately," Sony business and legal affairs executive Suzanne Prete said in a Tuesday memo to staff on the two programs.

Mike Richards is out as “Jeopardy!” host, just nine days after he was tapped to succeed the legendary Alex Trebrek as the face of the beloved quiz show.
Richards, who is also executive producer of “Jeopardy!,” saw his hold on the job undone with astonishing speed after unflattering and downright ugly details surfaced about his past conduct and statements he made on an eight-year-old podcast series.
On Aug. 19, the Anti-Defamation League called for an investigation after a report surfaced in The Ringer that Richards made disparaging remarks about Jews, women and other groups in episodes of the comedy podcast “The Randumb Show” recorded in 2013 and 2014.
In the end, Sony concluded that Richards’ image was too battered for him to take the helm of one of television’s most prestigious and popular brands. The irony is that the studio moved in his favor because he was seen as a neutral personality rather than an established name that might overshadow the show and its famously rapid fire, answers-in-the-form-of-a-question format.

Is this going to be like the Curse of the Bambino or some shite? The curse of Trebek… to where Jeopardy can never find a permanent host for whatever reason?

Ahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

You'd think companies would start hiring people to dig this stuff up before actually announcing stuff

Whatever it takes to get that self-serving douche out of that position. Maybe now they'll bring in someone fans actually wanted

Fans of Jeopardy or the random throng who wanted Geordi LaForge hosting even though they'll never watch the show?
Hopefully Joe Buck is lacing up his spikes as we speak.

If you have any history with comedy or diverse podcasts I don't see how anyone would survive a colonoscopy of their history.
Even a clean Jerry Seinfeld type can be dragged through the mud by association or changing sexual sensibilities.
I am not excited about Miyam Bialick being the answer. How about bringing back Levar Burton instead?

What a nightmare scenario, how could they frick up the hire with so much lead time?

Imagine being the miserable frick whose job it is to scour through hundreds of hours of a decade old podcast in order to cancel this guy. In this case it's some shite lib from The Ringer. Congrats to her. So brave.

Well...what did he say?

That didn't take long, did it?
Well, Blossom, you're up.

So he resigned. I wish someone had the balls to say "no I'm under contract. Fire me". And then say to the mob "why should I apologize if the end result is going to be the same?"

They're going to have to go the diversity route. I'm shocked they hired an evil white man.

The only stuff I saw was that he called a female co-host or producer of the podcast a "booth ho", who gives a shite.
And he asked female guests if they've sent boob pics. Again, who gives a shite.
The lady who did this targeted take down of him also is pimping her book about Jeopardy. It's possible they've crossed paths in the past and she has some axe to grind.
I don't know how good or bad he was at hosting since I haven't watched since Trebek died, but I find it fascinatingly stupid he's being taken down by something that's been out and available for 8 years and hasn't affected him until he tried to go for the big chair.

Mayim Bialik was my first choice for new host with Mike Richards as my second. It's a shame people kowtow to the miserable pieces of shite that make up cancel culture. Just once I would like to see someone stand their ground and tell these people to go frick themselves.
