They were released in this order:
1990 The Hunt for Red October - Alec Baldwin
1992 Patriot Games - Harrison Ford
1994 Clear and Present Danger - Harrison Ford
2002 The Sum of All Fears - Ben Affleck
2014 Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit - Chris Pine
2021 Without Remorse - Before Jack Ryan

What is your order of movie preference? Mine is close to the release order.
1990 The Hunt for Red October - Alec Baldwin
1992 Patriot Games - Harrison Ford
1994 Clear and Present Danger - Harrison Ford
2002 The Sum of All Fears - Ben Affleck
2021 Without Remorse - Before Jack Ryan
2014 Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit - Chris Pine

Harrison Ford is my favorite Jack Ryan. Yours?

Although I enjoyed most of the others, the originals on both are my favorites. Watched THFRO last week and it's still great.

Sum of all Fears is fun. I enjoy watching the nuke part. It is intense.

This is a great thread. I actually just recently started watching all the Tom Clancy movies. Had only seen the Hunt for Red October prior. So far

1. Patriot Games (just an awesome film, Harrison Ford is great)
2. The Hunt for Red October (great movie, probably most famous of all the Tom Clancy stuff)
3. The Sun of all Fears (I mean it was okay, but honestly kinda sucked)

Need to watch Clear and Present Danger, Shadow Recruit, and Without Remorse. Only looking forward to Clear and Present Danger out of the remaining 3 as I haven’t heard many good things about Shadow Recruit, and Without Remorse. No doubt when I see Clear and Present Danger those will be the top 3 with Patriot Games, and Hunt for Red October.

It was an excellent book, but by changing the bad characters from Arabs to some type of neo-Nazis, it lost its effect.

I only saw the first 3, I think the Hunt For Red October was the best movie and best book of those 3. Patriot Games was my least favorite of the Jack Ryan Clancy novels that i read but the movie was surprisingly better. I was skeptical of making of movie of Clear and Present Danger because the novel os so much longer but also a good movie on par, slightly ahead of PG.

When i heard they were changing the enemy in Sum of all Fears, i had no interest in seeing it and have not.

When CGI really started getting good, for example the ship and battle scenes in Troy, I started seriously looking forward to seeing Red Storm Rising come to the screen.

Today? I doubt I would get further than checking IMDB to see if they managed to break 3/10.

Alec Baldwin turned out to be such an insufferable a-hole, but his HFRO Ryan was amazing. I really do have a hard time deciding which I like more, him or Harrison Ford in that role.

I've mentioned before that Liev Schreiber was the best John Clark, and a younger Raymond Cruz was the best Domingo 'Ding' Chavez.

Patriot Games, Red October, Clear & Present…in that order. Sum of All Fears was my favorite book of Clancy’s. I was wholly disappointed in that dogshit movie though. Huge letdown.

One little gripe with C&PD was Willem Dafoe as Clark. Clark was supposed to be a big guy, former SEAL, etc if I remember correctly…which made me dislike Dafoe in that role. He just came off as weaselly to me. Schreiber was a much better choice.

Btw Sean Bean’s character died in Patriot Games. Who would’ve guessed.

Red Storm Rising would be awesome if they stayed true to the story.

Bear & the dragon would also be awesome, seeing us kick Chinas arse would be glorious. This is prolyl my favorite Clancy book.

I love the books with the inside conversations of the politburo

but i cant stand when they change the story over and over.

of the ones listed, it would the order they were released. Honestly sum of all fears pretty much sucked. But the book was slow too.
