We have decided to stay in the vicinity of Hog Island Gully.
Shacked up in Sulphur for the night and leaving out about o4oo to get down there before the first wave of people flow in.
Have a friemd that has 3 beach houses on Costance Beach so we will drink a beer and visit with them before we head back north with our catch.

We have played this game before and that was a joke that my son, whom lurks here, would catch. LOL!
With my 22yo son in tow if I plan to leave at 4 we will be close to there by sunrise, if I am lucky. He drags arse worse than my wife and daughter.
Gonna be a good day just get to spend some time with him. Busy work schedules forbus both dont allow for alot these types of trips anymore. I am closing in on retirement for the first time after 27yrs and will start a new job soon yet he is really just beginning his life as an adult in the "real world" and not college life. Relearning him the way we did things when he was growing up, so he can start these trips with his son, my grandson, soon, My new job will allow more of this for my granson and I.

Great day spent with my son, sweating our asses off and laughing like we did when he was small and i was 17 years younger. We didnt even care that it was hot or that we had to drive 2hrs home afterward.
We caught 3dzn in about 3hrs and hauled arse back north. Chicken legs and thighs was the bait of choice and Rouses in Sulphur is where we purchased them. We put them in a $2 styrofoam dollar general ice chest and let them sit outside overnight. I didnt even take my cast net out of the box.
My friend down on the beach had company from out of town so we didnt interupt their visit.( That will give me a reason to go back soon LOL!) I did take a few things out of this little crabbing trip though. So there was more to this trip than I expected.

I am pretty sure I now understand what my Granddad meant when we would go on fishing, hunting and trips of that sort, when I was younger. He always said, "It aint about what or how many you put in the boat. Its about the memories you make during that trip." Well he assisted me in checking that block this weekend and I miss not being able to tell him he was right. Again. He was right, again.
I dont drink, but tonite alongside my boiled crabs, potatos and corn I will have a beer. These are the days, fellas! These are the days!

Thanks to this thread, I took the family down this morning. We had a great day at Joseph's harbor and caught 12 dozen in 2 1/2 hours. My kids had a blast.

They are in the pot and I have a cold white can in an OB koozie.

Absolutely!

I want to thank each and everyone of you for the info you passed along.

The last 2-3yrs my wife and I made trips but this year we just havent had time. That changes today. We will make time and prepare ourselves to take our grandson in a few years.

Thank you all, again!

Kept 4doz fishing Elmer's on Saturday with Lil' Lowhound. Threw back as many females with eggs. Didn't get started till around 11-11:30, as high tide was at 9:45am. Bite was slow most of the day. It really picked up after 3:30-4p after the tide had fallen 1.5'. They were all fat full females, what I always look for on GI beach.

Hit big lake Saturday and crabbed with fam off the boat and fished as well a little. Got 64 blue crabs 7 keepee specks and released oversized red. Talk about fun with the fam.
