I like Max, but if you strip away the runs and do an “all-passes” version then it’s not really that great. At this point he runs well, but good teams will just make him throw and that’ll be an issue unless he improves quite a bit.

Why does everyone think just because Myles is getting these minor NIL deals he’s the starter

Man our offensive line was bad at picking up the blitz and stopping a 5-man rush. Gotta give it to Max for stepping into his role with a full stride. Guy can put the ball on a rope. He was true freshman out there looking as good as someone who’s been with the team for 4 years. He’s got a lot of talent.

My takeaways:
1) Max had better speed on his throws than I remember, at least later in the year.
2) Damn, he could easily have had another 6 interceptions.
3) Gilbert was a beast.
4) As a passer, not as great as I remember.
5) As bad as our offense was last year, Ole Miss was far worse. Max had all day to throw and they completely lost Boutte on several plays.

Man our O-Line sucks....Max has good pocket movement/awareness though, kept a lot of plays alive that had no business staying alive. Seems to have really good blitz awareness. Good at extending the play and finding the open man, which is exactly what you want in a college QB.

Good run instinct. Tough player.

Nice touch on the short floaters. He'll be deadly in the redzone.

Obviously didn't get a lot of deep ball tries, but accuracy on those are lacking. Can't say it's completely his fault as a lot of his throws were either on his back foot/rushed/pressure up the middle. Hopefully he gets those down though.

Is it just me or does he have a long wind-up?

Overall, has a lot of good attributes. Needs a solid deep ball to be truly elite imo.

Dude is legit. Saved LSU from becoming the first team to have a losing season following a national championship. Not to mention he helped LSU secure a top tier recruiting class. Max is a solid QB and is ready to take over

Max's ability to move around in the pocket and escape pressure was critical for many of those games. If the OL doesn't improve then he need should probably get the nod for QB1. Brennan would have been sacked quite a few times on plays that Max manages to escape.

He needs to continue to get better at leading his WRs. I'm sure that's been a big focus for him in the off season. But he does throw a very catchable ball.

Also didn't remember how many almost interceptions Max had. There were probably 4 just against Florida and another 2-3 vs Alabama.

Sets in the pocket. No happy feet. Unlike another QB. We'll see.

It shows how good Max did as a true freshman that he’s competing against Brennan that’s been here a long time and got to learn under burrow. Futures bright. I can’t wait to see what max develops into.

You can definitely see improvements which is refreshing. Had a lot of dropped INT which saved him a bit. Very cool and collected as a True Freshman. Long ball the Boutte in FL game should have been a touchdown, not a great throw. You can pick apart each qb all day if you wanted to. I think Myles will start the season for depth purposes and it will move on from there.

Takeaways from the video.

a) Max's inaccuracy is very noticeable.
b) For a "mobile" QB, he gets sacked a lot.
c) Throws short of the sticks, a lot.
d) I only recall him picking up one 1st down with his legs. And I'm not including a line push on a QB sneak as a "scramble" for a 1st down.
e) Threw a bad interception in the EZ. You never want to see that.

Is it just me or does he struggle passing beyond 5 yards?

He was 100x better when he had time (obviously). We also had no rushing game whatsoever. Line is going to have to man up in the interior and let Davis Price and Emery make plays.

He needs to stop throwing off his back foot and trust his reads. He looked every single part like a freshman being thrown to the wolves.

I honestly don't know what a lot of you are watching. He had a nasty habit of not taking the quick open route, stepping backwards, and throwing inaccurately off his back foot. Again, not bashing because it's what you'd expect from a true freshman.
