Because 97% of the covid hospitalizations in the US now are unvaccinated folks. This in spite of the extreme handicap that almost all the vulnerable people are vaccinated.

It is starting to dawn on the "moderates" in this country that they have been had. Even some liberals' are pushing back now.
The disease is real and it does kill. But it doesn't kill anywhere near the numbers that would justify a two year lockdown, never ending vaccine booster shots, and masks forever.
The virus was used to take our rights away. John Adams was a 100% right:

If we could trust the data from the FDA, CDC, NIH, and Falsie, I might agree with you. Sadly, I don’t trust them or the government.
