I dont know if it's an American thing, but the generation of kids growing up right now are going to be helpless and weak when any trying crisis presents itself to their lives.

Bad things in life don't give a shite about your mental status, they are happening anyway.

At least if you are decent parent and you teach your kid to power through adversity rather than embrace and drown in it, they are going to be at a huge advantage in life.

Could you give us who don't follow Simone Biles (or the Olympics) a clue as to what you are talking about?

She quit the team event yesterday citing "mental health reasons", which the media immediately went in to overtime spinning as an "injury".

To her credit, she may have just been royally pissed because the Olympic Committee changed the rules because her routine was on another level compared to other athletes, so they changed it to make it more "fair" for everyone else.

She did show some signs of cracking mentally prior to this. She made a couple of fairly big mistakes which could have gotten her seriously injured. She puts a lot of the burden on herself. It probably was best for her own safety the way things were going.

You can probably guess that she's mentally stronger than almost everyone here
