Things truly are terrible.
Trump said things would be catastrophic if Biden got elected, and I took that as hyperbole, but he was right once again.
This is bad. We live in a police state. We are being spied on. Our speech is censored and opposing political thought is criminalized. If we assemble in protest of the regime, we are called terrorists and prosecuted. The economy is in shambles. Inflation is through the roof. We are paying people not to work. Disease riddled migrants are pouring into our country unfettered. Elections are more than likely being stolen. The "party" controls media, academia, music, Hollywood, pop culture, and via cancel culture, they have taken control of corporate America. They are literally teaching white racism and gay sex to school children.
81 Million people voted for this? This is somehow better than a booming economy, secure borders, and international peace with a few awkward tweets here and there? Really?

Right. That’s why inflation is occurring because the dollar buys more. Talk about a fricking moron.
You do realize that inflation is a domestic measure that compares the cost of a domestic basket of goods at one point in time to another point in time.
The DXY index is a spot rate index - it compares the value of the US dollar compared with a basket of foreign currencies.
Inflation and the dollar spot rate aren't the same thing. It's possible for a country to have inflation (which means the price of said basket of goods increases compared with the price of goods back in time) and yet have a decline in the index.
This is because other countries also suffer from inflation as well. If US inflation is less than foreign inflation, this leads to a decline in the index despite inflation being high. There are also other factors that go into this but they're easily google-able - this is a massive simplification.
Now, the US has had high inflation but the value of the dollar relative to other countries has remained the same.
Biden hasn't really had an effect on the value of the dollar internationally. The biggest decline came from March to August of 2020.
Now, inflation has increased. That's not the same thing as the international value of the dollar decreasing. It's why saying 'value of the dollar' is such a nebulous term because it means something different to everyone.
Inflation fears are largely overblown. Central banks have enough ammunition to tackle inflation. Rates are going to increase in the future and the problem will largely solve itself.
The problem central banks have isn't inflation, it's deflation. If deflation happens, that's going to be a nightmare because banks won't have much ammunition to fight it.
Inflation is nothing to worry about. I have no idea why it's being mentioned so much on this sub. In the long run, inflation is far better than deflation. Central banks have historically struggled to keep to inflation targets, which is why exceeding inflation targets isn't going to be a permanent thing.

That's probably the most legit criticism of the Biden administration
Everything else you mentioned is just incessant whining about things that are no worse than they were before Biden was in office

I can't wait to hear how that was Biden's fault.
Everything is Bidens' fault....haven't you figured that out yet! This administration is the WORST in US history, and everybody knows that, even you DEMS!
There is NO basis for debating this fact....Biden, and the whole DC LEFT are horrible!

So much verbiage and still no explanation why the gas prices spiked since Biden took office. Yes, capitol has been fleeing the hydrocarbon industry. The fracking process greatly reduced the cost of oil extraction. Our economy greatly benefited from the increased efficiencies in production and we became energy independent, for the most part.
There have been so many irrational decisions by The Biden Regime regarding our energy infrastructure. The pipeline closure was an amazingly stupid thing and resulted in an immediate spike in fuel costs. Ultimately, this causes the price of all goods and services to rise.

I’d be willing to bet that 50% of the American public thinks that is a word that is off limits and doesn’t know it’s a country

Nono.. You’re posting a bunch of bullet points, most of which are not true.
1) Inflation is a huge problem. I’d like to know what The Federal Reserve could do to help, without causing a full-blown recession. They would have to raise interest rates quite a bit and also drive excess liquidity out of the marketplace. This would crash out the economy overnight.
The economy is NOT in good shape. We’re paying too many not to work. That results in a negative productivity. In order for an economy to grow and prosper we must have increases in productivity. This is the main cause of Inflation. You pay more, but you get less.
I could go in and on about the atrocious decisions by The Biden Regime.
Cancelling the Canadian Pipeline Program
Virtually unfettered illegal immigration
Giving Russia help to build a pipeline to Europe.
Massive Government Spending.
There will be a huge price to pay.

quote:No, there's plenty of explanation. Then add on the massive increase in demand as travel et al has come roaring back post-pandemic/vaccine. Add to that that OPEC until just the other day seemed content to not increase production. This isn't rocket science.

quote:Overall, very good post. However, I'm not so sure about the rates side of this anymore. The big move down in the past few weeks has been really stunning. Perhaps rates are signalling that this really just is a one-off that is mostly associated with the post-virus boom.
Rates are going to increase in the future and the problem will largely solve itself.

Are you high?
There’s a national labor shortage, shuddered businesses, and sky high operational costs due to the worst inflation in decades. They are already talking lockdown 2.0. The economy is struggling. Isn’t it the left that told us the markets don’t equal the economy?
Feds are jailing conservatives for breaking glass while the politicians who appointed them raise bail money for scum who firebombed a courthouse full of innocent people. People are being canceled, muzzled, and news is being suppressed. This is Russia level shite. frick off if you think that’s whining.
But I wouldn’t expect a leftist to take any of these violations of liberty seriously. Either that or you are too proud to admit your party is a trailer fire run by a guy with warm tapioca for a brain.
True Liberals wouldn’t stand for this. You and people who vote like you will turn a blind eye until it’s too late. It may already be.

Fuel prices have a great deal to do with our inflation problem. It affects the cost of everything. Transportation costs go up… companies have to raise prices that will ultimately be passed on to the consumer.
This is one of the reasons most government statistics don’t include energy and food costs. They say these prices are too volatile. Yet they’re very important.

Supply chains are destroyed everywhere, lead times are insane, goods are either ungettable or unaffordable, the federal government is partnering with social media to keep a list of banned people and acceptable speech, education is being taken over by political propaganda instead of actual education, the dollar isn’t worth what it was a year ago, welfare is skyrocketing, federal spending is out of control, the executive branch is making legislative decisions while the legislative branch does nothing, the legislative branch is full of paid activists who don’t think for themselves, the media is effectively nonexistent, actual problems are being ignored while made up problems are being addressed aggressively, etc
But yeah everything is fine
