I think people are too preoccupied with Covid and trans people to think about the shitehole this country is becoming. We are devaluing the dollar at an alarming pace.

Goddamn you idiots are fricking stupid and ignorant.

The value of the dollar is UP since Biden took office (not that he had anything to do with it, but just the idea that in your mind, it's somehow been plummeting.)

DXY

What's more, it went DOWN during Trump's presidency. I can't wait to hear how that was Biden's fault.

That's funny because inflation is rampant and we can buy less with our money than we could even a year ago. Explain to me how that means that the value of the dollar is up. I think you need to take your "you idiots are fricking stupid and ignorant" comment and apply it to that person in the mirror.

And there is no need for name calling.

It definitely feels like this forum is living in its own bubble.

The economy is doing fine, the stock market is in good health, M&A activity is booming (banking firms are hiring like crazy because of increased deal flow), and Biden's widely seen as doing a good job on vaccination.

I don't make up the index, I just quote it. Are you under the impression that lumber prices,e .g., are not up in Europe also? Is that Biden's fault?

Right. That’s why inflation is occurring because the dollar buys more. Talk about a fricking moron.

Are you saying the increase in gas prices are not Biden’s fault ?

I don't think it's anyone's "fault". Certainly you are aware of how capital has fled the drilling space, yes? That's mostly because the industry has vaporized a trillion dollars of investor capital over the past 10 years. The balance is mostly due to "ESG" investing shifting dollars away from traditional energy.

And to the extent that drilling on federal land matters to the oil price (it likely doesn't, as it's but a tiny fraction of overall acreage), drilling approvals even on federal land are UP under Biden.

LINK

quote:

Approvals for companies to drill for oil and gas on U.S. public lands are on pace this year to reach their highest level since George W. Bush was president, underscoring President Joe Biden’s reluctance to more forcefully curb petroleum production in the face of industry and Republican resistance.

The Interior Department approved about 2,500 permits to drill on public and tribal lands in the first six months of the year, according to an Associated Press analysis of government data. That includes more than 2,100 drilling approvals since Biden took office January 20.

quote:

The pace dropped when Biden first took office, under a temporary order that elevated permit reviews to senior administration officials. Approvals have since rebounded to a level that exceeds monthly numbers seen through most of Trump’s presidency.
