Just completed a 7,600 mile road trip from NOLA, through TN, NC, up the east coast through VA, NJ, NY, New England to Maine. From there across upstate NY to Buffalo, through Chicago, across MN to Glacier Nat’l Park. Then through WY, CO to Santa Fe before finally turning east to Lubbock & Dallas to be with the kids & littles ones for the 4th.

I always have a few Tiger shirts, the bottle beer Tiger koozie & the custom LSU TX license plate, so there is little question who my my team is. Sitting at a bar, anywhere, the koozie is always a conversation starter, “LSU” ? On a thirty minute ferry ride, the license plate gathered a small “crowd” (10). With lowered Covid restrictions, met a lot of great folks along the way.

The questions were usually what you would expect, “Is Tiger stadium really that loud” ? “Is the tail gating as grand as hyped”? “What is Baton Rouge & NOLA really like”?

Many commented on how much fun it was watching the ‘19 Tigers and by the end of the season were pulling for the Tigers to win it all. A few commented on the obvious camaraderie of the the team & what a fit Coach O seems to be.

23 states and the conversations were all positive without a single negative thought about the Tigers.Well, one in Lubbock where a TT fan considers LSU a baseball rival. Got to talk to a few TT basketball players & coaches that were entertaining the big donors of the program for the weekend.

On a side trip to the NFL HOF, great to see Jefferson’s jersey showcased for his rookie performance & the former Tiger busts.

If there was ever any doubt that the Tigers are a national brand, put them to rest. Tiger fans abound across the nation. Thanks to all that made this such a memorable trek.

OP is 100% correct. I think some people on here read the SEC Rant a little too much, to their detriment.

I have lived in VB, VA for years. I CONSTANTLY have people, and A LOT of young black males give me an "LSU!!" when out in public and sporting my Tiger polos, jackets, etc..

No doubt we are very popular across the country. And with the right age/demographic for recruiting.

No doubt about this and a lot of it has nothing to do with the product on the field. A lot of places like LSU because LSU played there and the fans traveled drank had a good time and were for the most part good people that just love their team.

I get it though. It's a high traffic board that gets a lot of clicks.

It serves its purpose.

I moved to Iowa at the end of December. When I talk college football up here, most folks comment on how insane (in a good way) SEC football and their fans are, and most would say if they were going to an SEC football game, that LSU would be their choice to visit.

Was wearing an LSU shirt in Kunming China a few years ago and got a Geaux Tigers! It was Andy Hamilton and his family. Very humble guy and was as surprised to see an LSU shirt in China as I was to hear a Geaux Tigers.

I live in the Richmond area and people this way rarely say anything. This is just a terrible sports city as well with a metro population the same as NOLA and only a AA baseball team that they are about to lose. Just such a weird area and population.

Hiking in the Grand Canyon 6/9-6/13 we met a handful of tiger fans hiking as well. I had to yell a refreshing Geaux Tigers while in that outrageous heat.

Not quite China but visiting a friend out in Los Angeles in 2002. He still had his car from college that had an LSU Rugby Sticker on it. We were on a random busy highway when an elderly couple pulled along side of us and motioned to roll down our windows.
The guy let out a coon-arse "Geaux Tigahs" that sounded like he coulda been from Mamou.

That's a great feeling.

I have a very distinctly colored LSU Alumni credit card that we use for all purchases every month. The support I get every day when paying for something, even in Texas, is heart-warming.

I concur. I travel a lot, at least up until 1.5 yrs ago and I wear LSU gear pretty regularly. I always roll my eyes when I see “fans” shite on LSU fans and our national brand here. Get out of your shanties.

Any conversation people have ever sparked up are always positive, asking about the food, tailgating and Tiger stadium. I always build it up too to leave them wanting to make a trip themselves. Even met some dorky college kids in the PNW and in the NE on separate occasions before that were blown away and thought it was so cool I went to school there because I got to go to all the football games in tiger stadium the fall
