Watched it last night for the first time in many years. It holds up so well and has every element that makes it a great movie.

It came out in 1996, back when movies were still fun without being jammed pack with politics and other bullshite.

Will Smith has great one-liners and his character is so likable. Jeff Goldblum and the quippy dynamic with his father brings the lol’s. Harvy Fierstein and his raspy voice cracks me up every time.

Vivica Fox and Mary McDonnell are both smoking hot.

Randy Quaid with the GOAT sacrifice and one-liner before getting his revenge.

And the speech by Bill Pullman…still delivers chills to this day.

The special effects hold up well, the story holds up fine, and it’s the perfect movie to show that the world can unite to fight a greater enemy.

Great movie. 10/10. And if you don’t like it, you’re not a true patriot

It's a fantastic movie that we watch every year around this time, but Goldblums character is a huge eco-warrior who bitches about recycling and losing his mind over using nuclear weapons. So there's definitely some of that in the movie.

Loses points for the absurd computer virus plot point.

Lol at people that don’t think politics are included in movies as long as the movies politics agree with theirs.

Yeah its cool as frick. I watched the extended version yesterday. It had some filler with Russell Case's family but still so much fun.

I introduced this to my kids last night. I loved watching it for the first time in a while and my kids enjoyed it the first time. It definitely holds up.

It's a fun "turn off your brain for a couple of hours" movie.

It's biggest flaw is convincing Michael Bay that all you need are explosions to make a good movie.

It’s a great popcorn flick, but the invasion plan used by the aliens in Falling Skies made a lot more sense. They set off EMPs in the atmosphere that knocked out all power and communications before nuking major metropolitan areas from the air. They then deployed ground troops immediately, something the aliens in Independence Day never got a chance to do.

I remember going to see Broken Arrow staring John Travolta and Christian Slater.

Before the movie, Teaser Trailer for Independence Day premiered. I was so excited about ID4, that I was kind of pissed that I had to watch Broken Arrow instead.

Independence Day is one of those movies I'll stop and watch when flipping through the channels, no matter what point it's at in the movie. I loved that movie as a teenager; it has good nostalgic value to me.

To this day one of my top 2 favorite movie theater experiences with The Matrix slightly holding the edge.
