Now that players are getting paid for NIL should they have to pay for tuition ?

I think it’s a valid point . The players are making the schools money, and the schools are making the players money so getting a free ride for education seems outdated. The players wouldn’t be getting paid without the exposure from the schools .This is the same exposure that allows them the opportunity to go to the NFL, NBA, MLB, etc... The players on scholarship have gotten tuition free educations in exchange for playing sports . Why shouldn’t they pay now that they are getting paid?

No, and it's not a valid point. NIL deals exist because the free market deems they are worth MORE not less.
Why would the school arbitrarily punish some of their best and brightest by making them pay for a history class?

Why wouldn't the tuition just be factored in to the total comp package?

If a student on an academic scholarship has a job, should they pay for tuition?

Is this all the fricking message board is going to be about now? What player is making what money?
It’s already fricking annoying.

Should regular students that are getting their whole tuition paid for with scholarships stop receiving scholarships? They can work during their off time from class, so why should they be receiving their tuition money from the school?
Your point is stupid

Because Walkons doesn’t have an unlimited pile of cash. Before NIL, LSU was Walkon’s tool to leverage LSU athletes. $1 to NIL is probably $1 taken from LSU.

The school is not paying the players. NIL just allows them to be able to make money off of themselves which every person on this earth should have always been allowed to do. This isn’t very hard people.

Well this is just wrong.
Businesses don’t pay someone to endorse them thinking that it won’t boost their revenue. That is the whole point of getting a celebrity to endorse your business. It brings in more business.

NIL deals exist because players and their families feel cheated. They feel used. They feel like schools are making millions off their kids and the kids and families feel entitled to get paid . Free tuition and exposure for these athletes to take the next steps to become pros is obviously outdated , so why would the outdated system of free tuition not change?

A student on an academic scholarship isn’t making the school millions, so that’s a pretty dumb comparison.

if someone has a full academic scholarship and works on weekends should they have to pay tutuion?

This is the exact brainwashing big business and the media has participated in to pit consumer vs. worker to turn their real attention away from the people at the top raking in all the profits. It’s done a number on a lot people.

Tuition has no bearing on what an individual’s brand and a free market dictates.
Universities still have a right to offer these kids a benefit for coming their program.
These are independent of each other and shouldn’t be seen as the same things.

There should be more guidelines put in place. You have some kids who will become millionaires over these thanks to greedy boosters. Which means they will need to pay taxes and that’ll become a whole other issue for kids who have no idea how to go about it. So will the schools have to hire someone to help guide them? Will the parents? Will everyone at Bama get a free charger now and it be ok vs frowned upon?

I’ve already answered that. They aren’t making the school millions of dollars so that’s not a valid comparison

Because it destroys your point does not make it invalid
