Should regular students that are getting their whole tuition paid for with scholarships stop receiving scholarships? They can work during their off time from class, so why should they be receiving their tuition money from the school?

Your point is stupid

Comparing Academic scholarships at universities of higher learning to athletic scholarships at universities of higher learning is also a stupid point.

Not to mention athletes can use status as college athlete for their NIL giving them a leg up on most regular students until ESPN starts putting physics classes on prime time and pushing similar 24/7.

what? I, a non athlete, got an academic scholarship to go to LSU and then law school. Should i be required to pay income taxes on my scholarships? They're already getting taxed on the NIL stuff. It doesn't make any sense to tax a scholarship.

You cannot seem to understand e difference between academic scholarships and one for athletes? An academic scholarship is specifically in regards to completion of an academic goal not an athletic one.

There is a huge difference between those especially when there are much stricter guidelines for academic performance to maintain those scholarships for academic based scholarships.

I forgot when academic scholarship recipients were getting free tutoring, an assistant following up with professors for them, etc.

They earned their academic scholarship to pursue an academic endeavor. Plain and simple. Athletes did not earn that academically and thus those scholarships are different. Art majors and music majors are earning those scholarships for their academic pursuits, not something entirely outside of it.

All of them are going to be getting paid shortly just watch. It will be boosters and organizations like TAF that will be paying them with NIL deals. They can pay a kid $10000 a year for use of his likeness and have non exclusive use of it.

Competitors will force the deals to happen. Only the very naive think that this is a really about player popularity.

oh boo hoo

most of these overrated, bum-arse coaches are making millions of dollars every year, and even the assistant coaches are making six figures ... but God forbid the players who actually do ALL of the work and SELL the tickets get a dime.

They can already get paid.

In Louisiana there might be a few restrictions but not really once you look at the law. In States without restrictions, well, there are no restrictions.

College players could always sign a performance or NIL contract, its just when they did the player andor school could be subject to NCAA sanctions. Now, the NCAA is out it, unless there is a restriction in place... its completely lawful for college player to get paid.
