My bigger concern would be how much success he would have recruiting in an area he’s unfamiliar with.

The article is written by Greg Guilbeau, the least reliable sports writer in Louisiana.

How are they a blue blood? They were good in the 70s and early 80s

They have 4 CWS appearances in 35 years and Johnson has half of those

and his lack of ties to this area

This is such an overrated thing when hiring a coach.

Agreed. Smoke had plenty. Johnny Jones had plenty. Jerry Stovall had plenty.

Dale Brown was from North Dakota. Saban had only been south of West Virginia a handful of times apart from NFL experience. Miles went through Michigan, Colorado, and Oklahoma (again, not counting NFL). What deep ties did WW have?

McDonnell, best candidate in college baseball.

However people have said he's got a contract that makes him cost prohibitive.

There's no such thing when hiring the best coach for the job.

You find a way.

I wouldn't necessarily say they were blue blood, but they do have 4 Championships and the last one is more recent than ours.

Classic Rant. Gone all in on ONE name, convinced themselves based on nothing that that one guy would be the hire, shite all over the real hire because it wasn't who you convinced yourselves was 100% happening

Especially relationships at places like College of Southern Nevada and Central Arizona.

He gets guys from JUCO powerhouses out west. Programs that always have top end D1 and draft talent.

Their baseball Wikipedia page portrays them as a blue blood with those lists of accomplishments

yeah and only made the CWS once in the 26 years between championships.

They are a good program but Johnson has them more consistently in the CWS than they have been since anyone even knew college baseball existed

So ECU's BOT calls an emergency meeting to discuss "something" and Godwin is reported to have met with us, starting to feel a lot like Godwin will be the hire.

If Godwin is the hire, then i swear on the bible that probably 2 or 3 people have told us no.

They called an emergency meeting to give Godwin some kind of title so they can pay him more money because he's a candidate for every big job that comes open

Godwin is born and raised in North Carolina and is a East Carolina graduate.

Maybe he doesn't want to leave home?
