How? As long as the place is full for big games and postseason (which it will be if you are putting a good product on the field) why would a coach care that the food at the concession stands is terrible and that the bleachers/batter’s eye in the outfield is ugly?

There’s no debate that LSU is a Top5 job in college baseball. Anyone trying to claim otherwise just flat out doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

It’s one thing to say “LSU is a top job, but it has some negatives that come with a top job.” That’s a reasonable statement … However, it’s just flat out silly to imply or claim that LSU isn’t a top job in the sport.

Our baseball program has more funding and resources than anyone in the country.

Wrong… the point is that Skip built a monster here and fans think that the game is the same as it was back then and expect a Nc every year…. Put it this way…. I feel for the guy that replaces Saban…..

The only unappealing part of any athletic position at LSU is living in Baton Rouge. Money can make those issues go away

I think you're overestimating how many attractive college baseball HC jobs are out there.

Not exactly sure what you are asking but I guess yes. Skip brought the program to the forefront of College Baseball where it has remained well after his departure as head coach.

Alot of factors go into the quality of a job and being a blue blood is certainly one of them but it's not the only one. Recruiting base, passionate fanbase, facilities that don't create a huge disadvantage, commitment from administration, conference alignment, etc etc etc all come into play and Skip isn't really involved there.

Facilities
LSU has top notch practice facilities/offices, but Alex Box Stadium is nothing special. So overall facilities wise its on par with the rest of the SEC. No coach is coming here just based on facilities.

And I can promise you every coach in America want his boys playing in front of 12k rowdy fans instead of 3-4k of hand sitters. Do not overestimate the stadium. Between the white lines they are damn near all the same. No coach cares about suites and good chicken sandwiches.

This is a positive

They’ll treat you like a king for a while, but you better win multiple national championships or they’ll want you fired. Its just like Kentucky basketball. Both have only won 1 national championship in the past 20 years, but fans get pissed off if you don’t win one every year. No other college baseball team is like that.
If you think you are the coach to lead LSU, you better fire yourself if you win one every 20 years.

Woody is going to have to outbid the other school by at least $1 million/year. The BS you have to put up with day in day out would not be worth anything less than th
You are fricking insane. That BS you speak of, that is interest. There are baseball coaches from other universities that cant get a group of fans together that would fill a conference room.

LSU is special for baseball coaches, dont forget it.

It's a top 3 job with Mississippi State and Arkansas being the other two. Dumb thread is dumb.

Because fan experience is part of the program. It’s also how you sell future recruits and keep funding flowing by keeping those seats full throughout the season and not just during super regionals. State built what it built because it puts them on the map and it’s the first thing people see and recognize. There’s something to be said for having the best everything. It attracts people.

Take a top 5 salary at any school and tell
Me the expectations are different.

You don’t make top dollar with top expectations. Tennessee doesn’t want to match Vitello just to go to the CWS every 5 years and go 0-2.
