Trump was RIGHT! California will spend $500 MILLION this year to thin its 33 million acres of forests to lessen the chance of wildfires - after former president was laughed at in 2018 for suggesting raking the woodland floor
California is adopting former Donald Trump's plan to thin out the state's 33 million acres of forests with controlled burns and raking the woodland floor - after state officials essentially laughed off the former president's idea a few years ago.
Trump had suggested in 2018 that the Golden State start sweeping its forest floors of debris that often aids in the spread of wildfires.
But by Aug. 2020, at the peak of the state's wildfire season, his suggestion became an ultimatum when he withheld wildfire financial aid on the basis of California's failure to clear its forests of dead trees, branches and leaves, Politico reported at the time.
Now, California is putting Trump's plan into practice statewide as groups of 12-person crews set about a $500 million effort to thin the state's forests with controlled burns and sweeping the forest floors of pines, redwoods and firs, according to a recent Bloomberg report.
'I see again the forest fires are starting,' Trump said at the 2020 rally in Pennsylvania. 'They’re starting again in California. I said, you gotta clean your floors, you gotta clean your forests — there are many, many years of leaves and broken trees and they’re like, like, so flammable, you touch them and it goes up (in flames).'
'Maybe we’re just going to have to make them pay for it because they don’t listen to us,' he added at the time.
Former US President Donald Trump had blamed the Cali's ongoing and deadly wildfire problem on the state's failure to clear its forests of dead trees and debris
During the 2020 California wildfires, 31 people died and another 37 suffered non-fatal injuries due to 9,639 fires spread across the Golden State

At the rate we’ve been going if we just give the fires a few more years we’d have the underbrush burned out.
But seriously, this has needed to happen for a long long time. The Creek Fire last year was brutal for my surrounding area.

So Trump ends up being correct once again.
Is it just me or does it seem a pattern has been established?

Again?
There seems to be a pattern here, I can’t quite but my finger in it....
Perhaps our friends at CNN or ABC can help us out on this

I can't figure out if the prog filth California politicians lack common sense; or if they just don't care. Or if billions in bailouts from DC is getting real old even for the marxists.

Sounds a lot like the "scientists" who weren't guided by science but by politics when they claimed that the WuFlu came from nature and not from a lab.
These frickers ought to go to jail, making people suffer because Orange Man Bad and follow the politics not the science.

Well they are Progs so we definitely know common sense is out the window.

Well, people with common sense have been saying this for decades.
But yes, Trump was correct once again.
Add it to the lengthening list of things he was vilified for while president that are now absolutely correct.

Fire has always been a part of the west’s ecosystem. Ponderosa pines and and sequoias can’t reproduce without fire.
Most fire managers agree that small regular fires are better than letting the fuel buildup for hotter fires. The last major fires in Yellowstone were devestating because of lack of regular burns.
Trump is different from most politicians is that if you look past the bluster and hyperbole he tries to cut through the BS to fix problems. People who are worried about feelings can’t get past the bluster.

Ruined my planned October trip to Yosemite last year. Came in the spring though. Hope you made out okay

Heck just round up the homeless, give them rakes, send them to the woods with some tents and tell them to start raking up them leaves.

Thanks. We were just fine but there were a few days when the northern parts of Fresno (where we are) and Clovis were sweating things out as the fires were coming down the hills quickly. The mountain and foothill communities took the brunt of the damage, I think the fires got to within 15 miles of where we are. That sounds far off but with the high winds, dry summer heat and dried grasslands the 15 miles could’ve gone up pretty quickly.
I hope you enjoyed Yosemite. It’s absolutely beautiful. If anyone hasn’t gone, you should. Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks are also right here. The giant sequoias have to be seen to be believed.

Trump was right about this, but he used the situation to promote global warming denial.
The lack of forest thinning AND global warming contributed to the fires.
