Passive Income for Young Investor

What are some good passive income opportunities for a young investor who has accumulated a sizable sum of savings?
Posted on 6/9/21 at 10:33 am to Lutcher Lad
Depends on the size of the savings.

I'll throw out rentals, but may or may not be passive.

Things that are diversified but keep up with inflation.
VYM
SPHD
PCEF
FGD
JEPI (new but I like the prospectus)
BIZD (will have to roll some degree of income back into it for long term growth)
PDT
PCI
PDI
Fundrise for real estate exposure, if you are willing to handle dealing with taxes needing K1 forms instead of just 1099-DIVs

Dividend Growth Stocks. My top holdings are:
HD
WM
JPM
UNP
TXN
AMT
I'll never sell them. They increase their dividends each year (JPM was not allowed to this past year due to Fed regulations on banks). Won't seem like a lot of money at first, but a few years down the road after reinvesting dividends and you'll start to see some real cash.

Unless you have a management company I would think this is the most active “passive” income there is when just getting started.

I like utilities. Entergy is pretty good

NexEra has been a good utility to own, and are the leading renewable producer in the world, which means growth under the current administration.

I would add LOW, LMT, AMGN, & O

AT&T has a 7.17% div yield and is currently trading at a discount. Stock isn't supposed to rebound until Mid-2022 the sale of some of their business units go through.

I have grown to fricking hate the term “passive income.” Invest like everyone else. It is just a BS term that is hot and popular

Energy stocks have the best yields. I stopped buying them because I wanted more balance instead of being too heavy in one sector.
You can go to finviz.com and use the stock screener to find high dividend yields. Also watch debt to asset ratio - you don't want it to be too high.
