I don’t know. I think that would take away from the CWS just as much as Rosenblatt did.

All those old ball parks just scream America. They are what made America’s game Great for so many people.

The new stadium is a pitiful excuse of a replacement.

Like the old box compared to the new box. Walking into the old box compared to the new box is night and day. The vibe is just not the same

Time moves on. The new box is much better than the old. Though I don’t understand why they didn’t seat and roof the entirety of the stands along first and third. That’s a complete fail. What made the old box great were the teams. Win a couple at the new box and it’ll be just as electric.

Nice. Great pics. That was the last World Series there. Didn’t they tear it down 2010

LSU won in 2009. SCAR won in 2010 wind 2011. Won the last series in the old stadium and the first in the new.

Found this clip showing a homerun to center (421 ft). Apparently it is the 5th longest homerun in the CWS at TD Ameritrade and still barely cleared the fences.

It is positioned so the prevailing winds are blowing in most of the time.

There was an article posted a while back about this. The architects admitted that, "If we could do it over, we'd rotate it 180°," the wind would blow out more.
Have n ever been to either. From a TV perspective, TD is just all CORPORATE & MONEY. Just doesn't "feel" the same.

For the people who have been to Rosenblatt. Do yall remember hearing the organ? Pretty sure it was an old man that played at the park since it had opened in 1950. It was awesome.

Edited to add this:

Bartak
He was 94. Starting in 1955, Bartak was invited to play such standards as “Hello Dolly,” ”You Are My Sunshine” and, of course, “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” on his 1947 Hammond organ stationed at the far end of the press box at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha during the annual College World Series.

I lived in Omaha for about a decade and remember when the discussions were held about a remodel. A big reason that didn't happen was location of new site near Old Market. Rosenblatt was in a sketchy section of south O. So yeah, decision was completely financial and TD Ameritrade can't hold a candle to the atmosphere and history of Rosenblatt. But it is still enjoyable if you can ignore the sterile vibe of TDA.

I don’t think there has ever been a home run hit in centerfield in the World Series. Somebody correct me if this is wrong.

The thing I loved about Rosenblatt was watching a World Series game while hearing the constant squawk the peacocks at the zoo just over the right field wall. You just can’t replace that.

I believe it. It honestly pissed me off when I read they were tearing it down. You could literally feel the mystique walking up to that place.

The only time I got to go was in 2003 when we laid two giant eggs. But it was still a huge thrill to finally set foot in that place after watching so many games there.

Even after driving up there for a day and a half, as it was approaching in the distance, I was like, "Wow, that's really it."

Don't think I'd ever be saying the same with the bank trading ballpark.

Have gone to both parks several times each. The old park was great for tailgating and the game day experience. It was around the park and close and everyone had a great time.

The new park is more downtown and big time commercialized. You can’t tailgate close except in a big parking lot across from the back of the park. There are more bars and restaurants closer but that game day feel of the old park just isn’t there.

If you so get to go, do go to the zoo. The infield and right foul pole where Warren Morris hit his home run is still there. Also go to Barrett’s Barleycorn. They love some lsu fans.

Both the old box and Rosenblatt were in desperate need of replacements.

The only reason we miss those places is because the majority of us weren't adults in the 90's and so childhood nostalgia has taken over.

For me as an old man, the box reminded me of old style ball parks. While I agree with upgrading facilities, etc., they could have done it differently in my opinion. They tore down the old married student apartments and have built out everything to where the old box used to be. Instead of doing that, why couldn’t they just modernize the old Box and add outfield seating or a massive berm in front of Nicholson. The placement and south easterly wind influence is different now.

I could go on with Master Planning but it would be fruitless. Building a new stadium and getting the seating is all Skip wanted to do and he was cheap with the amenities.

Rosenblatt in 09.....every game for +/- 10 days...., TD in 2017 Championship weekend, LSU winning or competing for another Natty..... who cares where we playin?!?!?!?!
Although, we had access to the team in the parking lot in front at Rosenblatt, didnt even look for that at TD, multiple city blocks on all sides, streets blocked off and lined with vendors....as i seem to remember.....big street party even after loss to FL

he new park and location is so much better.

It is an objectively better location, but it is facing the wrong way and has the wrong dimensions. It also has no soul. The park itself is not better, it is just newer.

It actually fricking sucks.

But yes, it's closer to stuff and in a better location for fan experience. The inside just blows.

I wonder what it would it take to move rotate the field on the inside

Yeah, I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with you right there. The old Box and Rosenblatt were old, but they did not need to be replaced. Both had soul. They were close and loud. Seeing the Zoo and that dome out past right field was cool at Rosenblatt. It did feel like climbing Kilimanjaro getting up the hill to the stadium, especially after tailgating hard, but it was definitely Alex Box North. And we just stayed at Embassy with the team, so we could walk to Upstream, we didn't need to do that from the stadium.

If I had to guess it was all about money ??. Some politicians brother in law is a contractor that got the bid and the wealthy businesses downtown wanted to capitalize on the fans that went to Rosenblatt.
