Somebody explain this. Voyager 2 related

Voyager 2 was launched August 20, 1977. It’s coming up on 44 years on it’s mission.
It is 11 billion miles away. It has left the solar system and is now in interstellar space.
We have re-established contact with it. It takes 17 hours each way to send and receive data from Voyager. 34 hours total.
Somebody explain this……
Why is it that if I move to the other side of the house I lose my WiFi signal?

Subtle “I have a house” jab at OWLFAN.
Show some class.

You need a bigger antenna...

Voyager will pass near a star in 40,000 years

Because your cheap electronics were made in China

It takes 100,00 years to travel end to end of the Milky Way at light speed.

But if you made the trip it would be instantaneous.

Even better, Voyager uses magnetic tapes for working memory. They have to upload new subroutines to make the spacecraft do what they want. That’s how they’ve been able to modify the spacecraft to remain useful.
So nasa has been reprogramming a 50 year old computer in interstellar space to essentially change its purpose and function on the fly.

Would I get better mpg if I went faster than the speed of light?

How much does your router cost?

I watched a YouTube video on the two voyagers. They were massively over engineered. The mission plan was supposed to just check out Jupiter and maybe Saturn, but the engineers wanted to see if they could explore the edge of the solar system, which they supposedly didn’t have the funding for. I don’t remember all the details.

Everyone in your neighborhood has WiFi so the transmitters have to be wimpy to prevent interference.
D.R. Horton doesn't build interstellar probes yet, so NASA can go all out with the signal strength.

Despite being 11B miles away, there is a lot less shite between us and Voyager, than your laptop and router across your house

I'm not gonna wait up. Let me know what happens.
