He will finds problems and fix them. Unlike his predecessor, he won't stick with the wrong guy or the wrong system just because of inertia.

Having watched the OLC thing over the last few days, I suspect that O wanted Cregg out - probably because he refused to or couldn't recruit - guy wants to just coach, but that don't fly in SEC football.

So O talks with Davis quietly and gets a warm fuzzy and then fires Cregg and announces it with the promise of a national search ... waits a day or two and gets the guy he wanted before he fired Cregg.

This is how successful HCs do it folks. The identify problems and fix them the right way. Don't get rid of the bird in hand unless you have one in the other hand ready to go.

I'm happy with Cregg leaving and Davis replacing him. Cregg obviously had on-the-field coaching talent - his OL won many wards in 2019. But we need a OL coach who can/will be committed to recruiting and developing elite young athletes at those positions. Hopefully Davis, who is from LA, will be that guy.

He fired him because he was given an easy out. If he had fired him when he fired Pelini and everyone else then this would all line up. However he almost let this dickwad stick around a year too long. Lucky he still has a chance for someone to save his arse

We would prefer if he just not create the problems in the first place.

ETA: If he constantly has to go back and forth correcting his own mistakes, we fall behind. How do you think Saban continues to stay ahead of the game?

if O would stop hiring dudes mostly because he's buddies with them LSU wouldn't constantly be in this position

Which guys were his buddies that we’ve hired lately?

Joe Burrow won those awards for the 2019 OL. Let's be real.

Great post. The timing clearly shows this was Orgerons plan all along.

If we are lucky the violations won’t hinder our program too much.

Great job by Eaux!

Crazy thing is they think you are serious.

You got 3 upvotes

O lucked into this yet again.

Cregg was the easy hire. Don't even think he interviewed anyone.

By all means! Let's be fricking real! Burrow threw how many blocks on run or pass plays in 19? 5 maybe?!?!? He played behind that line! The line played in front of him! They did their thing---he did his thing.
OL had 2 day one NFL starters and injury prevented a possible 3rd. 2019's was the greatest offense in College Football history!
I'm no Cregg fan either, but you effing arse-clowns who dismiss the efforts of a Unit voted best OL in the country during the year they were the blockers in the best College Football offense ever seen are truly without credibility!
Oh, and same goes for you lot whose tongues are stuck because Joe clenched!

I like and the fact that he makes changes but he is going to be judged based in his hires. He really hasn't had any good ones outside of Joe Brady. Cregg was his and of course Canada and Pellini. If these 2 new coordinators are successful along with the d line coach it will show he is correcting his hiring issues.

Yes, this sure looks like an upgrade.

It seems like for whatever reason, Cregg was an ineffective recruiter.

And with those highly rated out of state offensive linemen scheduled to visit very soon, it is really important to quickly get a solid OL coach who can recruit on board.

Seems like there are a bunch in here that would prefer Orgeron would fail. Almost as if they are still mad we didn’t hire Herman. He’s doing the job he is supposed to do snd I support him 100%. If you don’t like him just say so, otherwise I’m sure there is room on the Bama bandwagon. Meanwhile true Tigers are riding with CEO.

People are allowed to criticize the bead coach. He has made some bad hires.

It is what it is. I think the hires he has made this year have been great.

I like the davis, jones, baker, and carter hires.

There are a lot of miserable small dick fairweather fans on here who hate Coach O…except for when he wins a championship. Then they love him and supported him all along. Just ignore the pathetic haters on here. They’ll disappear as soon we win the first few games.

You mean he creates problems and has to fix them. He’s made a lot of bad coaching hires.

To an extent yes, but Damien Lewis is one of the best young guards in the entire NFL and Cushenberry started 16 games at center for the Broncos.

They both overcame their coaching.

Distinct possibility both Carter and Davis are home runs. Baker and especially Jones could be disasters this first season. I don't think that will be the case, but we have to consider they don't have SEC experience and will face the offenses of Leach, Kiffin, Jimbo, & Mullen. Not to mention his Gumptitude's guy. Inexperienced Coaches and players make mistakes but with excellent line play and defensive competence I like us to be in the playoff again!

You are why LSU fans suck.
