I like the davis, jones, baker, and carter hires.

I wish I could agree with you on the defensive coordinator hire- it was obviously a second or third tier because Woodward wouldn’t give Orgeron any more leeway on the contract offered.

Can’t believe they weren’t better candidates out there but nobody good and proven would come here for a two-year contract.

How do you think Saban continues to stay ahead of the game?

By recruiting lights out, by skirting every rule in the book to get and keep elite talent on campus.

Everyone here puts a whole lot of weight into coaching em up, but as said long ago...it aint the x's and o's.

Saban puts third and fourth year five stars that have been in a college strength and conditioning program for that amount of time up against freshman five stars that other programs promise early playing time.

The timing clearly shows this was Orgerons plan all along.

His plan all along was to wait until Cregg committed recruiting violations to get rid of him?

Jesus fricking Christ. This is one hell of a way to say “O will create expensive problems and have the AD and boosters bail him out.”

quote:

Having watched the OLC thing over the last few days, I suspect that O wanted Cregg out - probably because he refused to or couldn't recruit - guy wants to just coach, but that don't fly in SEC football.

Yet... O kept him for multiple years and didn’t fire him for his putrid performance last year. He had to fire him after he was turned in for recruiting violations.

quote:

So O talks with Davis quietly and gets a warm fuzzy and then fires Cregg and announces it with the promise of a national search ... waits a day or two and gets the guy he wanted before he fired Cregg.

O has always been very public about his hiring process, or lack thereof. This hiring is 100% Woodward.

quote:

This is how successful HCs do it folks. The identify problems and fix them the right way. Don't get rid of the bird in hand unless you have one in the other hand ready to go.

Hire shitty coaches like Canada, Scott Linehan, Bo Pelini, James Cregg, etc. and fire them for not working out?

He did get rid of Pelini, to be fair but at the same time, how in the world does he hire him without even interviewing the guy?

There are a lot of miserable small dick fairweather fans on here who hate Coach O…except for when he wins a championship.

But the record reflects everyone was discussing Cregg and O before you inserted your preference to add penis size to the conversation.

Maybe a little impulse control would do you some good bro. Can you think about penises later?

Herein lies our problem. We compare every thing our coaches do to Saban. It’s unhealthy, just stop it.

The only comparison I will make is how long did it take each to win a national championship at LSU?

I remember fans bitching about Saban a year after he won the Championship.

The coaches come and go but the fans never change.

It is applicable because he and his program are LSU's DIRECT competition. For over a decade now t if LSU wants to win the SEC and play for a championship they MUST defeat Saban's team. It is the benchmark LSU has to strive to pass if they want to win a championship.
