Pink Floyd: Meddle

My choice would be Wish You Were Here

Meddle is a solid album and, if you don't enjoy it, then Pink Floyd probably just isn't for you.

Meddle is a great album and One of These Days and Echoes are perfect examples of what Floyd does best. I believe those two rival Wish You Were Here (Parts I - V & Parts VI - IX) in the long form/instrumental song type. However, the other songs on Wish You Were Here top the ones on Meddle.

I love those 4, but it’s hard to argue with Have A Cigar, Welcome to the Machine and Wish You Were Here.. Granted all three were classic radio staples but NONE of the shorter songs on Meddle were. I think WYWH would draw in a new listener and if they liked what they heard it might bridge them to a second Floyd album.

If you do, then there is a lot of really good music left for you to experience.

More so in the sense that I consider Chris Bell to be an integral part of Big Star...

I like the other records, but to me, they're more just Chilton records...

Most of these aren't necessarily my favorite - but I do think they're the most approachable to introduce someone to.

TV on the Radio - "9 Types of Light"
My Morning Jacket - "Circuital"
Arcade Fire - "The Suburbs"
Wilco - "A Ghost is Born"
Parquet Courts - "Wide Awake!"
King Gizzard - "Nonagon Infinity"
LCD Soundsystem - "Sound of Silver"

Sonic Youth - Goo
REM - Automatic for the People

Faith No More - Angel Dust
Rage Against the Machine - Battle of Los Angeles
Fugazi - 13 Songs (compilation of the 1st two EPs, so maybe it don't count)
Fishbone - The Reality of My Surroundings
The Beatles - Rubber Soul
Bad Religion - The Gray Race

Like others these aren't always what I consider the best, but the most accessible.

Draw The Line is actually the best Aerosmith album and they were great in the seventies.
