If trying to stretch $2.6M like that, I definitely wouldn’t be staying here in the US full time.

Affirmative.

The residence I spent a week in earlier this Spring in Rosemary Beach was on the market for $4.1 million.

It wasn’t beachfront but was about 200 yards back.

Im shooting to retire at 60 but my number is 5 mill

50k pension annually plus nearly 6k/month from SS at full retirement age goes a long way to bridging the gap.

They could comfortably retire with zero savings.

My parents retired with less than a million and have been fine. Live on the river, too.

People way overestimate how much they need

I can understand downsizing, but I don't understand these people who retire and move off to a completely new state or worse, foreign country. If it is a situation where you want to be closer to your kids or grandkids, that's great. But there's something strange about not building up a social network of local friends, family, congregation and co-workers for 30 years that you don't want to leave behind. People who don't grow roots are weird to me.

No, Belize is horrible. No one should ever want to buy property there. It's the worst place on earth.

This is the case for most coastal southern cities these days.

And they bring their stupid fricking politics with them.
