Dammit, I found like 30 of them that dropped wings and crawled around my house. Hope I got them all.

ETA: yeah make that 100. I think I got almost all of them. That was not a fun night.

They swarm at dusk and just for a couple hours. Then they shed their wings and die. They're basically looking for a spot for a new colony, then she'd their wings, find a frick buddy, then die. Sometimes this happens multiple nights in a row, sometimes they take a day or two off to rally the troops. Should be over after 2 weeks.

All you can do is keep lights off, and vacuum their asses up in the morning. Don't be surprised if you find them in really weird spots. Theyll find every nook and cranny into your house that exists. They get into your attic pretty easily, and from there they can come out thru light fixtures, air vents, etc.

They seem to get worse every year. Wish we could get something going to curb their population because it's out of control

We have a ton of frogs in the backyard and tonight they are croaking so loud I can still hear them through my headphones.

Same here, but not complaining because I've only found a handful of the swarmers in my house so far. Wife(no pics) did her annual what is this, are we infected freak out because she saw one on the stove the made it's way down the vent.

I wasn't ready for them until one day I heard something on my backyard and realized my motion lights were still on. Stupid neighbor cat was passing through and knocked over a plastic chair. Lights came on, couldn't see shite through my cameras.

I wasn't just referring to the annual termite swarms but the stinging caterpillars, the flying teeth, green heads, roaches, and not to mention the incessant parade of skeeters.

What the frick, Louisiana?!?

Being from Arkansas and the last several years in FL, I had no idea what this thread was about but it sounds horrible.

Then there was the above post...

What the frick are stinging caterpillars and flying teeth??!

Yep, doublefrick that. I had no idea this was *a thing* until this thread, now I'm having an existential crisis wondering if God truly exists

Only happens a few time abs for about 2 hours. But they crawl all up in your house and then die. Most don’t do any damage

I might be wrong, but I think the it's the males that die. The fertilized females try to find a good spot to raise a family.

That's incredible! Do they just swarm around lights or are they that thick away from the lights, too? That must be maddening for cattle and livestock?

Lights show then but they come like a cloud. Everywhere! Lights attract them to your house, that’s Wally everyone turns them off and sits in darkness. Those little AH get in every crack. Mostly I find them in my bathtubs since they look for water

Not sure about tonight. I would guess yes but it’s hit or miss next week or so. I usually turn on outside flood light, turn off indoor so you get some light from outside to help indoors and keeps them attracted out there vs in here.

They don't usually swarm during a rainstorm (though the rain may not come in soon enough to keep them away).

But don't worry, they'll postpone the swarm and play a double header the next night.

I’ve been out at a party near the park and just got home and it’s nothing like it was last night.

Although its about to storm and has been lightening and thundering for the past hour or so.

I don’t think we will see them tonight
