Gasoline is a national commodity. If this continues (and it will), we're not talking about a "slight" increase. I suspect $6 and $7 a gallon gas (if you can get it) is coming, at least short-term.

I understand how supply and demand works. My point is that I only have a 5-mile round trip to work 4 days a week, so even $10/gallon wouldn't necessarily kill me. My question is whether D/FW is on that pipeline and whether I'll be able to get it regardless of price. Or will they have to start moving it to the east coast by truck, affecting EVERYONE?

Had no idea it was in Charleston until this post, and I live 10 miles from Kiawah. Wonder how much I can rent my upstairs bedroom for.

But this isn’t a shortage of the refined products, this is an inability to deliver to a region. States that don’t get supply from colonial won’t see a shotage and shouldn’t experience a price bump.

Asheville NC here. Passed 4 gas stations on the way home. All were out of gas except for the Ingles grocery which had over a hundred cars in line… It’s real.

my guess is it will take a few days to mobilize the trucks needed for such a distribution and by then the pipeline will probably be functional anyway

Orange Beach. Al. is getting low on gas. 92 octane and diesel is about all that's left.

I drove from Jacksonville, FL back to Champaign, IL over the weekend and didn’t see a single station claiming to be out of gas.

Any real shortage is going to take from a few days to over a week to show up, until current tanks run dry. The problem is spooling supply back up after the pipeline has been cold for a few days. It's a pipeline problem and not a refinery problem, so that makes things a bit easier as some of the juice is already being offloaded for truck and rail transport. Slower, more expensive, and less efficient than the pipe, but it'll help.

Let me get this straight.

Suddenly, going into summer vacation season, there’s an unheard of cyber attack that totally shuts down 1/3 of the countries gas supply (almost all red states with no COVID restrictions) - and the Biden regime is blaming Russia?

pull my finger.
