I'm not going to upvote you because you should have known better than to post this, but I 90% agree with you.

Mike Vick the college talent is not overrated.

Mike Vick the college career is certainly overrated.

Frank Beamer had the best defense in VaTech history (250 ypg allowed) and a Pro Bowl NFL kicker in 1999 and he rode those 2 against a cupcake slate of Big East teams to an 11-0 record. Vick has to be the most underutilized, misused player in CFB history. They wouldn't or couldn't build the offense around him running the ball, and they didn't trust him to throw it to anyone but Andre' Davis (8 year NFL career).

If it's 2019 instead of 1999, Mike Vick puts up Manziel numbers or better.

Matt Castle?

He was a backup at USC and then started for a brief period in the NFL

How is his college career overrated? He basically had no college career. Unless you count standing on the sidelines watching Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart play QB as a “career.”

Maybe Josh Jacobs if he continues to succeed. Not that he wasnt really really good but his best statistical season at Alabama had him get 640 rushing and 247 receiving yards

Same with his NFL career. He played the majority of his snaps under center in the I formation and the Falcons kept trying to make him a pocket passer. He would put up MVP numbers in the league now with the much more innovative offensive coaching.

Ask any average fan who the best WR was on those LSU teams and they will tell you OBJ. Ask any LSU fan and they will tell you Jarvis Landry

This is just a weird premise then. Because you could put an endless amount of players on such a list if the person being asked is a casual who doesn’t really follow the college game.

Take for example the TE position. Damn near every TE could go on this list.
George Kittle? Dog shite receiving career at Iowa more known for blocking than anything else. 48 career receptions.

1300 yards his sophomore season in the NFL and a top 5 TE.

David Woodly from LSU. Split time in college and was mediocre at best but ended up leading the Dolphins to a SB.

I'm not shitting on Woodley, but him "leading the Dolphins to a SB" was more a fluke of a strike-shortened season than anything. He also split a lot of time there with Don Strock before then. Not many people really "elevate" Woodley's pro career. He's just one of a handful of 'who'd a thunk?' Super Bowl QBs, who otherwise had pretty mediocre careers. If anything, he was probably better overall in college.

Again, that is bullshite. You’re really showing your ignorance on college football. Hell it wasn’t even top 3 in the 90s. You seriously need to look at what he actually did, not what you imagined he did in your head. He had a good 99, but his 00 season was poo.

He was hyped because of those flashes he showed, not because of the production he actually put up.

This is a weird premise for a thread. Matt Stafford was actually the first answer that came to mind.

Aaron Rodgers is my answer here. The guy has been lights as a pro which makes people forget he had a pretty uninspiring college career when they’d expect him to have been great.

His senior year he threw for 2,500 yards and 25TDs / 8 ints. For 2003/04 that’s okay but not great. He started out his college career at a juco as well and only played two years at Cal.

He's remembered more fondly now in College than he was perceived at the time losing the Heisman to a defensive back.

He was a consensus all American and the #1 draft pick

He was perceived as the best QB in college football while he was in college. Some posters are showing their ages ITT bigly. Diddly, Jesus Christ dude. What a terrible take on Michael Vick in the OP. College Mike Vick would have put up Lamar Jackson numbers in a modern offense. Stop trying to take stats from 1999 and apply them to 2021

I probably couldn't tell you where any TE in the NFL went to college but if I just guessed Iowa I'd probably get about 30% correct. This post is where I learned that's where George Kittle went.
